large scale model rocket
hello guys, yesterday i bought a 50% scale rocket of what appears to be a Aim Ram 120 missle that is used by the US military and i would like to learn about this rocket
Heres what i know so far, height is 78'' tall and weighs 4lbs 1.6oz without parachute and engine
what i need to know: where can i get a parachute? How much do motors cost? and i am assuming here that i need a specieal licence to launch, and how much would that be? and also how much does a model rocket this big cost to build?
p.s. i got it for $35 for the whole thing
thanks guys MitchG95

i am not completely sure if it is flight worthy but luckely theres a high powered rocketry club 40 miles away that i might have to go see sometime, materials are as follows, thick hard card board tube, fins are plywood? there is plywood and nose cone is thick plastic
if i never launch it... it sure makes a bad@#! display peice lol

Re: large scale model rocket
In South Carolina, I'm told you need a license to buy engines that large. I don't know about other states.

yep i believe that i would need a licence to launch this thing... which makes it all the more fun because not many people have this sort of thing

Re: large scale model rocket
ok, i emailed the president of a local model rocketry club with a better description on my rocket and he says it might be built just as a static display rocket...
i found out what engines it would use it it were to fly.... 54mm solid fuel rockets that cost $39.99 and $51.01 to ship just to get one, then i still have to get a parachute, altimeter and the other things this thing uses
