Re: Pee Wee 020 crank shafts the same?
I have mixed and matched parts on the pee wees and never ran into a problem with drive plates or any other parts. Do you have a pic of the part?

Re: Pee Wee 020 crank shafts the same?
I've found 2 different sizes. One on the tapered case and one on the straight case.
Re: Pee Wee 020 crank shafts the same?
I just got an email from Matt, he said the 90's and up version has a larger shaft end/drive plate.

Yes, and after further research I think the larger diameter crankshaft splined ends/driveplates ones may have been earlier than just the 90's. I pulled a few Skycopter cases (late 70's) and they too had the larger crank/driveplate combo.
This goes for both round and the hex driveplates.
If anyone has any more concrete info it would be appreciated.

Yeah,
I would like to know more. I recently aquired a really early pee wee. Really pronounced taper case, no step/wrench relief cylinder backplate has no screen no markings and no thimble drome on the red tank. The drive plate is chewed up from pliers and I was going to get a replacement for it but, now I am not sure what will fit or what to be looking for. I really thought they were all the same. This thing looks brand new apart from the driveplate.

Sounds like the 2 I have. I don't think red "new" drive plates are available.

No, I don't think so. Not readily available but, they do pop up on Ebay more often than not. NOS that is.

Well Crank case assemblies with red plates are available from select hobbies.

$25, wow... all I need is the drive plate.
I need one for Jeremy's late Uncle's PeeWee too. This is getting crazy

I have been toying with the idea of home anodizing. Might save a lot of money in the long run. Especially since most replacement parts are Estes non-anodized stuff.

Hmmm,
Looks like same length except one has more bearing surface.
What's the diameter?

I wouldn't think so. Unless the shaft was a really poor fit and even then it probably wouldn't even run
