Sold out Cox .049 silencers for sale
These silencers are similar in design to the Cox .020 mufflers but slightly larger to accommodate the Cox .049 engine

Installation instructions
Please check the cylinder dimensions:
As the cylinder sleeve sizes vary slightly you might have to adjust the fit?
The parts that interfere (i.D.) with the engine cylinder will need to be shaped. (enlarged?)
Using a slightly undersized wooden dowel and some 220-grit sandpaper wrapped around the dowel to carefully enlarger the hole for the cylinder sleeve by twisting the dowel/sandpaper in the hole to enlarge it. Don't overdo it now! you want a snug /slip fit.
Included with the silencer are two different thickness size shims (.008" / .012") (0.2mm/ 0.3mm) to give the silencer a tight enough fit when the cylinder is tightened down and the silencer is snug enough to not move. If it does, you'll need to add one of the shims on the bottom side of the silencer.
One more FYI (if necessary) -- use a small amount of Permatex (non-hardening) gasket sealant on the upper and lower faces of the silencer to get a really good seal.
The exhaust tubing is 5mm I.D. diameter.
Thanks,
sosam117

I bought 1 to test, the 5mm ID header should help the engine breath.
Thank you Mike!

Roddie,
The .020 silencer is 1.3 grams and the .049 is 2.4 grams

Re: Sold out Cox .049 silencers for sale
Brad, I enjoy reading about your ventures, because they have a touch of class and on the high performing end, never a dull moment.
I suppose in a pinch one could substitute a couple wraps of 16 gauge bare soft iron or copper wire to fill the gap, then carefully twist (say, 14 - 16 turns per inch), clip off to a 3/8th inch pigtail, nicely curl into an out-of-the way loop with some needle nose pliers, so it doesn't poke a finger.
Mighty nice professional finished work, by the way.

I have run into a need for more shims for the Killer Bee .049.
Looks like 2 more sets to hold the manifold up as it sits down on the
crank case top without the shims. Guessing on the shims at 1.4mm
may need 3 x .3 +2 x.2 - 1.3mm to snug up or 5 x .3 -1.5mm
That gap is/was for the spring starter?
The spring starter measures about 1.0mm in width
PM me and I'll make up some shims for you.

Re: Sold out Cox .049 silencers for sale
I have the shims punched out.
Had a little time to do it as we had a storm go through Plainfield (Chicagoland) and lost power for a couple of hours.
So, took the time to get the punch set out and the shim stock and "Get r Done!"
I punched out three shims for 1/2A Nut.
One is 0.62mm (about .025")
The aluminum spacer is 0.21 (about .008")
And the last is another one at 0.63m (about .025")
For a total of about 1.45mm (.057")
My punch set only goes up to .020" (0.50mm) ---- so it was a little tight to get the .025 shim stock into the punch holder.

Re: Sold out Cox .049 silencers for sale
I messed up on that one?
It is a little short for using without the spring starter (manifold alone --- should measure 11.35mm) and it is just a little too long for the spring starter (spring starter measures 1.2mm so the manifold overall length should be about 10.15mm)
So, 1/2A Nut (since you measured the overall length) and it reads 11.05mm the one 0.21mm and one of the other shims should cover the length?
And you have the other "2" shims at 0.62mm which you could sand down to a thinner thickness (if need be?)
Mike
Actual overall length should be for the 049 manifold:
