A puzzle....whatisit
A maze.......
A mess.......
Potential firewood......
All of the above...........
Showing the Gilberts a little love.
I have mounted most of my engines on something. Started using left-over pergo plastic flooring. Ate up the saw blade on my De Walt miter saw. Switched to lattice, worked better but a lot of work. Switched to plastic mineral/rock mounts. Best option. Cheap, drill a couple of holes for screws and your done. Radials only.
Different story for beams. Had this left-over wood from stripping prime 2X4's length-wize and liked the grain.
Nobodys perfect. . I did these three at a time, three for the 7's, three for the elevens. Clamped and drilled the holes. Saves time and mistakes. Glued all using Gorilla wood glue. Messed up and glued the wrong end. Strong stuff, lifted the grain instead of breaking at the joint when I broke it apart and re-did. Threaded 3/48's on the Gilbert mounts.
Found a home. Lone 7 with tool marks will get ran soon.

Hmm, looking very good there Bob. Like the layout and and end result of the "Maze" Took a second look and read thru to find the plastic, mineral rock mounts. I was looking for something made of quartz or Corian cutting board..Ha ha on me.

Yup, agreed.
BTW, Alliphatic resin wood glues sometimes are too good in their bonds, found out the hard way.

Looks great! Quarter grained wood is a compliment too…..That usually costs extra in the wood worker world….

Yes, good looking 2X4's. Usually I just buy studs for casual work. Got these for a special project purpose cut. D select. Saved the leftovers that became these engine mounts. Rough cut on my table saw, only sanded the bitter/joined ends on the belt sander. I thought about staining them, but gave up on that.
