New Parts, well to me :)

New Parts, well to me :)
I got a bunch of parts from Jeremy, which were from late Uncle Chris. Here are just some of the parts I got. Some, I may need some help identifying them.

Pic #1 is a lesson in what not to do to a cylinder. The other pics are of a throttle sleeve, pee wee backplate, various .049 cylinders and crankcases. Looks like you have a few cox car parts in the last pic.
The cylinders should be numbered or if not may be identified by the porting.

Not sure what that bent up cylinder is, has a large fin on the bottom?
I've never seen a throttle sleeve like that, with indentations. Is that for a car?
The crank cases, what are they?

the sleeve looks like its from an rc engine, but it has an oddly machined outer rim...WingingIt74 wrote:Not sure what that bent up cylinder is, has a large fin on the bottom?

Micro was selling an engine with a throttle ring identical to that one. You may have to ask him about that. It looked to be out of a car.
I am not seeing anything special with the crankcases am I missing something? They look like regular .049 issue

I think I see what your talking about. The machined ring right? Again probably from a car kind of a slot to hold the pull starter is my guess.

Those one cases look like they have the snout pressed in, or very close machining.
Nice little pile of dirty parts, something salvagable there, if not all.

They are machined. I've never seen them before, so I'd figure someone on here would know what they are.
Re: New Parts, well to me :)
I've got the PeeWee and a 049 (not pictured) soaking. We will see if they free up or not...
Re: New Parts, well to me :)
Good call. Looks like the drive head I had with the Wen-Mac was actually for a testors also...

I wonder if those cranks belong to it also???

Correct. From what I know, it was used in 1970's Cox dragsters. Uses a clip which snaps onto the crankcase, and puts presure on the ring. Has five "steps". I think my engine may have been pieced together. (got it used)

Re: New Parts, well to me :)
If it hasn't been noted yet, those cases are from Cox cars. Funny cars, dragsters etc.
They take a larger diameter, heavy duty crank. Check the bore.
The bottom one looks like it has the tapered crank end, as
opposed to the spline, sticking out of the nose.
Some of them had the spline cranks too. Used to be
desirable in mouse racing circles.
