Cant say anything about eBay that won't get me banned from CEF. The fee they last charged me included fee for taxes charged by another state. I am winding things down and will close account soon. PayPal scum is getting fired too.

You can thank South Dakota for sales tax on internet purchases.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Dakota_v._Wayfair,_Inc.
Paying taxes for used items on ebay is just theft There are people getting busted for not paying taxes on garage sales income - more theft.
I wonder what the states are doing with their new found tax revenue?
Ebay was great till about 10 years ago. I only buy there because of hard to find parts or engines.

Small mom and pop stores need to add to their website a online store on their web page/site.
I know it's initially hard to first set up but after that it is not too hard to keep up, posting new products.
Off line you set up the photos description, buy button, cost for each, and other programing to add up the cost and qty.
After you have your "store" page done, upload the store to you domain name (shop) and wait for customers.
There is a little more to that but that is the bones of how to set-up a store.
Or, pay a programmer to set-up your store? Don't forget the store maintenance (updates on inventory).
Then you too can have a store like Bernie and Matt?
eBay was just an easy way of not having to program your own website shop and pay (when I did it $20.00 a month) for a domain name.

Well, another reason to list your hobby related items here on the forum. I won't go after you for selling fees and taxes or force you to ship overseas.

I for one am glad to have eBay.
I was able to find a replacement crankshaft for my Enya 049 rear induction reed engine.
And the German I bought it from has also a crankshaft for an Enya 06 diesel engine.
Also, found an Italian with a either an 06 or 08 Enya replacement crankshaft.

I looked around ebid.net and couldn't find much in my interest areas. For instance, Varney locomotives, zero finds on ebid hundreds on ebay. More of a problem for sellers than buyers. That said, I hate monopoly's or near monopoly's including ebay/paypal, facebook, google, etc. Way to much power centralized in these venues.

Re: ebay or epay for sellers
With Ebay's 10% sales fee it makes it even harder to make a $ But since they have been around for so long and so many followers , the only few other places i have seen Don't have as big of verity I am for one not happy with them or PayPal ,, i had some disputes not long ago and there was no way to get to talk to a PERSON and every time you would type a complaint a different person (same old bull what can i help you with today) As far as selling Here most people have all they want / need LOL , i have yet to sell a thing here so i just stated with the Bay But like i said sell $450 in a month give them $45 is a lot when ur selling small engines and everybody want to Jew you down I want a good price too but i have been offered 1/2 of what price was listed then back to them cut that in !/2 and still no sell What the Heck!~!!!

Oh, I see it as it is what it is. It is another venue, good it was pointed out, will take a little time to get used to. I see it as a good place to check periodically because I might see that one item I've been looking for.rsv1cox wrote:I looked around ebid.net and couldn't find much in my interest areas. I cruise Etsy from time to time...picked up a few Cox parts on the cheap. Picked up a safety razor, and something else. You just have to get lucky there.

Re: ebay or epay for sellers
I once bought a bunch of cheap engines off a site called "Webstore". They had a little bit of R/C stuff, but I was lucky to come across a pair of Golden Bees and a McCoy .049 on a Tee Dee tank mount in Hawaii. I recall I made another purchase via them but can't recall what. It seemed to run similar to eBay but somehow free to sell.

I wonder if this only applies to Ebay stores, or also to the casual seller like myself? BTW, I haven't listed anything in over a year.

If you email shtterman (Bob Brooks -- shtterman@aol) He'll give you a 10% discount on your order.
If you order from Bob's eBay store, you don't get the 10% discount.
*Bay charges him to have his "eBay store".
eBay and PayPal are there to make money anyway they can squeeze you (buyer or seller).
