CEF T-Shirt Design Contest
To celebrate the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Cox Engine Forum, I thought it would be fun to have a T-shirt design contest. I think many can agree that we're well overdue for the new forum T-shirt.
OFFICIAL RULES:
1) This contest is open to Cox Engine Forum members
2) Contestants must be 18 years of age or older (or else a parent must submit the design(s))
3) No purchase is necessary to enter or win
4) Limit of three (3) entrees per member
5) All submissions must be made by January 11, 2020
6) The Cox Engine Forum reserves the right to reject any design deemed unfit
7) Cox Engine Forum members will be allowed to vote on designs for a period of two weeks
8 ) Grand prize winner will receive one (1) Unused 1970s Black Widow .049 engine in original "Spider Box" packaging, and one (1) T-shirt featuring their design.
9) The 1st runner up will receive one (1) T-shirt featuring the winner's design
11) Prizes will be mailed to the winner(s)
12) All local taxes and/or import duties are the responsibility of the prize winner(s).
13) The winning design will become property of the Cox Engine Forum, and CEF will hold the right to use and alter the design wherever it seems fit.
14) T-shirt designs should be limited to 10 colors, colors will be reduced in designs with more than 10 colors.
15) The color of the T-shirt can be suggested by the designer
16) Designs shall not exceed 12" x 12", and should probably not be smaller than 5" x 5"
17) Designs should be kept to one side of the shirt, unless you have a really good design that uses both sides (contact the admin).
18) Designs shall contain only original artwork.
19) Designs shall NOT contain profanity, trademarks, logos, or copyrighted works of any other person or business.
20) Designs shall incorporate "Cox Engine Forum" and the URL "www.coxengineforum.com" into the design. Forum logos can be provided to designers.
21) Designs shall incorporate the year 2020
22) Submitted designs should be considered actual finished T-shirt designs, not "design ideas". (ex: providing a rough sketch and a description with the expectation that it will be created in software based off the sketch is not acceptable). I should be able to take your submitted design and put it directly on a T-shirt with little to no editing.
23) Designs can be hand drawn/sketched, or done using computer software. Hand sketches should be as clean as possible (limited shading and minimal defects, eraser marks...) and extra fine details likely won't show up on a shirt.
24) Designs should have no solid background where not specifically intended (like a .jpg file does)
25) Designs needing excessive "touch ups" will be rejected
26) Designs that are provided with poor resolution will be rejected
27) Acceptable file types: .ai, .eps, .pdf, .xcf, .png, .gif, .tiff, .psd
28) Designs shall be submitted to tshirt_contest@coxengineforum.com by January 11, 2020
Feel free to ask questions.
GRAND PRIZE
The grand prize winner will be awarded a "New In Box" Mid-1970s "Spider Box" Black Widow .049 Engine (pictured below) and a T-shirt featuring their design.
Good Luck and Have Fun!!!

Re: CEF T-Shirt Design Contest
Take your time on designs guys, no need to rush, you have about 6 weeks to work on it.
I'm looking forward to seeing what members come up with!

One edit made to the rules:
I'd like to keep the designs to one side of the shirt, most likely the front. Double sided printing is possible but it will increase the cost. If you have a really good design that uses both sides, contact me.

Re: CEF T-Shirt Design Contest
I hope everyone's designs are still coming along well!
For anyone who wants to participate but has no idea where to start, maybe you don't have image design software. Play around with the design tools on sites such as www.teespring.com, www.customink.com and other T-shirt sites.
I've received some questions on hand drawings. Yes, I'll accept drawings, such as cartoons and illustrations. Make quality high resolution scans of your drawings.

Re: CEF T-Shirt Design Contest
Good news,
Jacob has asked me for a full size finished product he likes the shirts!!
The designs are meant to be traditional enough to be worn out and about
anywhere beyond just the flying field. I have blown up this file showing
2 of the originals sent to Jacob vs entree #1 which has been blown up to
the size of a Med. size shirt. I have emailed it to Jacob can share here now
with everyone. Note the Cox logo I made for shirt #1 full size. The Wing TD
completion badge is too complex to render so was taken from the CEF form.
The net will reduce this file as it does on CEF but you get the idea.
It follows the rules to include requirements for having the yr. 2020
and web page address. I would wear this no problem not corny lol.
Original is huge at 7288 x 6560px
Ok as expected resolution gets cut down to the point you can't read the
words under the logo this file of the single front shirt rendering might be
readable below: Question is would you wear it?

Re: CEF T-Shirt Design Contest
Well, I need "full size finished products" from everyone who enters LOL. Members can send me "what do you think about this?" ideas and I'll let you know what I think about them, but if you send final submissions they need to be full size and resolution.
The one problem I still have your shirts Brad is the backgrounds around the images, even if the shirt is white, the white background would be printed on the shirt with white ink. I can clean up designs if someone absolutely had no idea how to do it, but I'd rather not have to LOL.
I like that design Mark. Toss the year on it and I think it would be a good submission. You can use stuff out of old catalogs as long as it can be considered public domain or non-copyrighted.
When you do send final submissions, be sure to send the designs themselves and not only the design on picture of a t-shirt.

Re: CEF T-Shirt Design Contest
I found this Cox logo shirt likely provided in the late 1970's early 80's
As requested Jacob here is a clean printable logo with a white background.
Let me know if that will work, CEF site has blown it up bigger than what it needs to be on the shirt.
If you want the TD Badge logo on the back if willing to do a double print I can give you a clean copy of that next.

Re: CEF T-Shirt Design Contest
I would not wear that shirt in red, reminds me of coca cola.
The only shirt I would wear is light grey or white with the
logo and words / date below.

Re: CEF T-Shirt Design Contest
I worked for textile manufacturers once. Detailed and degraded images can only be printed by photographic process like DTG. It needs CMYK inks to print, like as printing a photograph on a page of newspaper, but colors fade away after several washes. Screen printing is best for printing fabric. Screen printing colors are made from special inks, so don't fade away quickly, but colors must be limited in screen printing process. More colors mean more money, because a screen need to be made for each color.

Re: CEF T-Shirt Design Contest
I did screen work in wood shop back in HS, candle wax over the screen with the wax
removed for the paint to soak through for the design. Yep a screen for each color.
Only need red and black for my version.
