All good advice. I wouldn't have thought about the wipers, thanks.Cz10 wrote:Painted on one of the bridges at Laguna Seca (sorry, I just can't call it Mazda Raceway @) is something to the effect of "On any weekend, more Mazdas are being raced then any other make". One of my fellow Porsche AX'ers has a hatchback and has run it on the course. Impressive. Go for it Rusty. Just clean out the car before you go. Take ou everything inside and in the trunk. Oh... and if your wipers are on a stalk on the steering column, remove your wiper fuse. Nothing as distracting as having your wipers come on in the middle of your run.

Re: More Old Stuff...
Man, you guys have some nice rides. I inherited a 69 Chevelle SS from my Dad. It was white with a black vinyl roof til I got hold of it. It was more car than I needed at that time in my life. I graduated to it from a 67 Nova SS with a 283 and a Powerglide tranny.
The Chevelle was comparatively a monster.
Unfortunately it had an automatic. Fortunately the automatic was a Turbo 400.
Seems like I've posted this here before. I think we had a thread last year about this stuff.

Re: More Old Stuff...
No. An Audi Fox turned left in front of me in an intersection in Atlanta and I t-boned him. I used the insurance money to buy a black '67 Camaro SS with a nicely built 4 bolt 350, and a cowl induction hood, and my first Muncie 4 speed. An m-20. My next Muncie in the white race car was an m-22 Rock Crusher. That's the same engine above that I later rebuilt for the white Camaro race car. I sold that one when I got married and had a child. I then got a Ford Escort station wagon. And another one. Somewhere in there was a stock 70 Camaro RS with very little guts. Got rid of it when Al came along too.microflitedude wrote:Do you still have it?

Great stuff! What's going on with that TD .049 in that speed pan? The cylinder looks very peculiar.

Got me...maybe one of our veteran circle-turners has an answer or educated speculation. I'll check the text of the article when I get home tonight...

Looks a lot like a tall insert type head clamp. Maybe the article is more specific.

Re: More Old Stuff...
I was lucky to have met Bob Gialdini (see '65 NATS Stunt) years ago when i was flying stunt...we mostly talked about sailboats. He lived somewhere around Milwaukee area, pretty nice guy, he gave my kid a .15 size Sig Twister for him to fly when he got older, we never flew it...yet.
I was common practice to turn the cylinder fins and glowhead down to help retain heat, due to the high nitro fuel they were running, more fuel could burn allowing it to run cooler.

This is the only note about the engine that I could find. Says it was his own cylinder...

'Cause it's sort of old, I guess. Nice rumble, Reptile. Now they all have aluminum blocks and sound like crap no matter how much power. I had one of that generation, but it was a Rally Sport. But I have had two '67 Camaros, a '69, and a '69 Chevelle SS with a big block.

1952 Nationals Page from 11-52 M.A.N.
Had my scanner cranked up again and going through my latest batch of old magazines. Saw this fellow's novel modification that emulates the other inline cylinder engine whose ad I can't find at the moment (think it was called an Arrow). This with a home-made gearbox.
No article accompanied the photos, so this is all I got:
