Welcome!
I enjoyed your videos. I think you're going to have to devise a more secure anchor. When that thing gets away it's determined to cause mayhem

Re: Prop Rod Running
Hi Mike and welcome to the forum.
I enjoyed your videos too and also agree with Rod, a better and more secure anchor is not just required but is really a necessity.
Another thing to keep in mind is to keep the line as horizontally low and even between the anchor and the car as possible. The anchor point does not want to be higher than the attachment point on the car. This is part of the reason why the car is lifting up on to the outside wheels.
Something like this keeping the line low.
Also, in my humble opinion, I think the tether line is too short. I had exactly the same issue with a car I built that was on a 4.5 m tether.
It circulated like a rocket but with the inside wheels lifted right up in the air. I tried a 6.5m tether and that allowed the car to sit down on all four wheels.
The larger the circle the flatter the arc of the curve and the less turning force on the car.
Watching the videos, I reckon your car definitely has the speed to run a longer tether, how long you'll only find out by trying a bit at a time.
I like to use line that has the least stretch you can get so I use 175lb breaking strain braided fishing line.
There’s also a safety factor here and something doing even 30 mph, small as it may be, hits you or a child it may do more than bring a tear to your eye. Last time I looked the world record for tether cars is over 200mph.
I like tether cars and wish you well in getting the best out of yours and please continue with the videos so we can all enjoy your progress too.

Re: Prop Rod Running
Yes the base needs some modification. I think adding a few screws will do. I need it to be easily portable. But I do like the one pictured in the replies! The line length is a little longer than advised in the instructions, which is 8 feet. I looked at Musciano's book, Cox and Wen Mac instructions as well. The only one I've seen run before was a Shrike as a kid. It used a big nail as a pivot and still went up on two wheels. So I'm kinda thrilled I was able to recreate that. I will fix the base and find a smother place to run and call it good fun I think. I was planning to soup it up but I have other projects to get running and flying so...
Thanks for the input and interest. I'm so glad this forum exists. I will keep you posted!
