Cox Engine of The Month
So, I get this call from Mark while he is shopping a local flea market

I found a unique British BB gun Dad, but it's $800.
What else did you find? Well, there were these two Cox planes, a really beat PT-19 and a foam plane but he wanted $50 so I passed.
Why?
Well, the boxes were ripped and the PT was missing the engine.
Go back and offer $35 and I will pay you.
Later.
Well I offered $30 and he took it. I started to leave and he said to take the rest of the stuff and pulled out three more boxes.
Plus another box of props, control line handles, glow plugs, etc.
Looks like a hurler Fox in there. A total of nine engines. - Thirty bucks.

Great score! I've had my share of finds at flea markets, but not as much as you. $30 was a great deal!
You can never have enough Babe Bees.

Looks like one of the QZ's came out of the EZ Bee, the other one who knows. I don't think they ever put a QZ in the PT-19 which looks to be an early model with the enclosed nose. Good to see a Black Widow in there. The Fox looks to be a .35.
What I find curious is the BB with the red anodized? cylinder. Will know more this afternoon when I pick them up.
I think the missing landing gear and firewall for the PT19 are in there.

Re: So, I get this call from Mark while he is shopping a local flea market
Congrats. on the flea-market lot Robert! Great to have your son Mark bird-dogging for you!
Some observations while looking at the photos:
The blue "plane parts" toolbox has a Sanwa 2ch. AM 72mHz radio receiver in it; likely belonging to the Cox R/C E-Z Bee kit.
One of the two muffled/5cc tanked Cox .049 reedies is probably the "QRC" engine that came with the E-Z Bee kit. The other engine is probably a standard Babe Bee with a muffler added. Cox "did" produce a PT19 Flight-Trainer with the QZ (Quiet-Zone) engine.. but it's not the PT19 version that you have.
Here's what the "QZ" version looks like..
The "tanked-engine" type firewall/gear block looked like this...
"Your" edition PT19's firewall/gear-block should look something like this..
A Cox .049 "product-engine" (modern/horse-shoe type backplate) fit's "up and into" the top of this firewall.
An indication on your PT19 fuse.. is the space for filling the product-engines' "external" fuel-tank via integrated "nipples" (just forward of the front windscreen) which are formed into the fuse.A small "translucent white" tank-bowl was issued with your model. The correct "propeller" is a Cox black [LEFT HAND] 6" dia. x 2in. pitch

Re: So, I get this call from Mark while he is shopping a local flea market
Thanks roddie.
So this is probably the engine from the PT19. Not anodized, looks like someone painted it red.
Only one in the boxes that is a "horse-shoe" engine.
Other parts for the EZ Bee and PT are intermingled. Someday I will get them all sorted out and back to their proper places.
Anyone know what those little clips positioned to the upper right of the engine go to?

Bob , those clips are “Clevis “ or the end of the control arms for the Lazy Bee.
Looks like you have a couple of the #8 “tail-skids” too.
If you don’t have instructions for the lazy bee , i can send you pictures or a copy of mine.( oh. nevermind, I see in your first picture you have the instructions! ).

Rene, you have become the answer-man here.
I haven't gotten to that box yet, stretching things out, enjoying the experience.
Thanks - Bob

Bob. Looks like there's another (unpainted) in the shoe-shine box, if I'm lookin' right.

That's almost as good as finding it on the side of the street on garbage collection day.

Re: So, I get this call from Mark while he is shopping a local flea market
Hi Robert! That "could be" the engine.. but there's another engine with a horseshoe backplate in that lot.. (in the center.. as Rodney noticed..)
The engine with the red-painted cylinder has a R/H propeller. If you check the outboard-wing of your PT19 model.. you'll likely notice the absence of wingtip-weight. Your PT19 Flight-Trainer model was designed to use a Cox black #864 L/H 6 x 2 two-blade propeller. The left-hand prop-rotation design has a definite purpose. Under power; it torque-rolls the model "starboard" (to the right) which has a positive effect on line-tension.. and needs NO outboard tip weight.
If you or your son Mark plan to fly the Cox PT19 Flight Trainer.. keep the above in mind. If you use a R/H propeller.. you should provide (ADD) outboard wingtip-weight. Doing so will help to keep the model tracking "outward-circle". NOTE that there is very slight rudder-offset.. and ZERO thrust-offset.

Almost.
Thanks for the PT-19 education roddie. There should be one of those 864 props in there.
The only PT-19 that I have ever flown put me right on the ground, later transferred to Ron Cribbs for better times.
