Re: New Limited Edition Engine
I'd go with the Red Streak, myself. Looks like a fun engine! I'd prolly buy one if it was throttled, would look boss on the nose of an airplane with zero cowling.

Re: New Limited Edition Engine
Thanks to everyone got name suggestions
Ronald Valentine is the one that referred us to the anodizer, so not surprising that he would sell an engine with multi-tone anodizing.

Re: New Limited Edition Engine
Well, I must say none of the noble submissions listed above including my own rings my bell.
Bell? What does that colorful fuel tank remind me of.....
a Liberty Bell.
Bob
Suggestion: Bernie and staff pick the top five names and put them to a vote here with a gentleman's agreement that no one votes for their own. Takes the pressure off CI's staff to name a winner.

Not so sure Bob.
This is a very international group, and while it's true that many of those suggesting names are in America, Cox Intl. are not.
There appears to be a lot of suggestions that show American patriotism in the name. Nothing wrong with that, but maybe not so relevant to Bernie and his Canadian crew, or the rest of us from other places. This may tend to skew the results of a vote due to sheer weight of numbers.
Just my thoughts.
Rod.

Agreed Rod, and a major reason why I mentioned "a" liberty bell rather than "The" liberty bell.

Re: New Limited Edition Engine
Thanks again everyone. Together with what we came up internally, we have a handful of names so far that we will consider if and when this project comes to fruition (probably sometime this summer).
Because we sell our products worldwide, we will have to be cautious about names that lean towards a particular country; any country, including Canada. Also, we will be sensitive to names containing references to weapons, war and violence.
We did receive feedback for previous LE engines and "Terminator" & "Blue Bullet" was not received well by everyone.

Re: New Limited Edition Engine
In regards to reserving certain numbers, this is how we can accommodate.
Everyone who purchased the CopperHead need not reserve, as they will automatically be offered "their" number(s), with a few days to decide whether to purchase or not. Traditionally, aprx. 50% make a purchase.
At the end of that process, we go through prior requests to see if those numbers are available. If so, the requestor is accorded a few days to complete the purchase.
The balance of engines are then available for general sale.
As it would be challenging to keep track of requests on this forum, please email us at "support@coxengines.com" if you had not previously purchased the CoppeHead but have a request for a certain number.

No problems, Bernie, understand perfectly. Because you are a commercial business, you have more at stake than us hobbyists. In a way my suggestions of even the "Flying Monkey Bee" may be inappropriate. These extremely wealthy owners of even movie characters are very protective of their "so called" intellectual property, that having unlimited cash resources (compared with a small business) can tie up the small guy in lawsuits that drain their cash reserves leaving them unable to fight and drive them into bankruptcy.
You'd think that using one's own name would be okay in a business. Not long ago, Mike Rowe, a teen formed a software company called "Mike Rowe Soft" and was contacted by Microsoft with a potential lawsuit for even using a name that sounded like theirs.
I won't say any more on the subject as we now start to delve into non-hobbyist political and other controversial subjects beyond our engine and related interests here.
Glad to see you are doing something out of the ordinary to bring about something unique but original.

I have many time thought to get a kit for Aluminum anodising and thus know the process is chemical electricity using acids and electrodes
I am al a loss to figure how the multi colors are done

I've never anodized anything, so this is academic. See https://www.wikihow.com/Anodize-Aluminum
Seems a simple enough process that with some experimentation might result in a satisfactory work, kit not required. However, perhaps a kit may be more sure fired as (hopefully) the kit maker has already done their experimentation, so results may be more consistent. Perhaps best source would be a gunsmith supplier?
However, I'm not sure how multicolour would be done. May be some form of grease is temporarily smeared over a portion of the specimen to be anodized, so that only the exposed areas are anodized?

Re: New Limited Edition Engine
Yes George...I did read up on the process a few years back seeing some of the very beautiful examples a few CEFrs have...Guy in Oregon is a grand artist with Cox engines
I have painted cars, houses, plastic and wood models--- as well as finish furniture I built
Finishing guns and rifles is other techniques for the wood, parkerizing, Cerakoting, browning, or bluing hot or cold methods
Dip bath Aluminum anodising is pretty simple and relatively inexpensive...PITA is storing the Battery Acid between uses...crap is pretty caustic
Long ago I got a battery for a motorcycle that came with a plastic jug of sulfuric acid...BUT the battery in the box had been filled already...11 years later the plastic jug of acid crapped out in my shop.....my all metal construction 30x40 auto shop.......grrrrrrrr
Your idea on Masking makes some sense but only from One off projects... Bernie will be ordering at least 100 all close to same scheme Tanks with specific colors
