Is the piston not completing the stroke - moving up-and-down between Top Dead Center. This is the result of too much compression. How many head gaskets you got in there? Try adding couple. That Norvel head could be too much.
i dont have my tools with me right now, but i believe there is 2 head gaskets
Are they new? Add one or two next time you run it.

My 051 was doing that a few times yesterday, just pop'n back and forth, I thought it was pretty funny.
Yeah, but for me it quickly gets annoying It is not always caused by compression. Too rich can cause it too.

Yes that is because when you run it rich there is more fuel taking up space in the combustion chamber hence making it smaller increasing the compression.

ya, i was fussing with it for an hour yesterday, and finally just chucked thew airplane into the wind, it nose dived int into the groung , the thing is tough as nails though, that plane weighs over 1 pound and all it broke was a servo, the rest of the airplane has no damage, much to my suprise

And why you should be very careful whilst using an electric starter. Your conrod will take a beating.

My verdict,
Never use an electric starter.

ya i used a electric starter on my first baby bee engine... it ground a way 1/16" of the crankcase. ill never use an electric starter on these 1/2a engines ever again, i have learned my lesson

Re: cox golden bee circa 1970-1972
ya, its allways good to pack up, when you think your about to do something stupid, for example before i tossed my plane i considered packing up before i broke some thing, but i didnt pack up and i destroyed a micro servo

ya that is exactly what im talking about. im currently building a ff trenton terror with a 63" wingspan and im going to convert it to rc, install a 2 oz gas tank and a cox .049 rc engine with out the integrated gas tank:D

That is most likely too large and heavy for a .049 but you never know for sure.

i dont know, but the wing and the fuselage that i built for it before got thrown across the garage and destroyed. the wing and the old fuselage combined weighed less than the airplane that weighed in at over a pound, and of course im probly only gonna have 2 channels (rudder, throttle) and im planning to use light weight servos
