1/2A Non-Contest Control Line Gathering
On Nov 19, 2017, we will be celebrating 1/2A control line with a mass gathering at Apollo Field in Van Nuys, CA. Many of us started flying 1/2A control line when we were kids and now it's time to celebrate 1/2A control line, and we're going BIG. Hoping to have more than 100 on display. We're encouraging pilots from around the country to bring all of your 1/2A control line models flying or static for a large group photo. We will be flying all day and sharing our passion for 1/2A. Myself and my buddy Tony Nacarrato are planning to make this an annual gathering and possibly a two day event. The word is spreading around the Southwest and beyond.
Bring'em if you got'em and please spread the word. Hope we see you there.
Best,
Tony

Re: 1/2A Non-Contest Control Line Gathering
Well guys...I'm happy to report that a crazy idea to gather at least 100 1/2A powered control line planes was...as the kids would say, EPIC!!! It was the most amazing day I've personally experienced in over 40 years dabbling in control line model aviation.
We had 127 1/2A control line models gathered and a perfect flying day....thank the good Lord! I'm still going through 450 photos, plus videos and will provide a link to everything soon. Here's a few images to start. We even had a few kids to include my daughter on the handle...good times!
Mauricio - Your best wishes were a blessing. Thank you my friend!

Re: 1/2A Non-Contest Control Line Gathering
that's been great! ... it's great to see so many people having a great time doing what they like ... the day seems to have accompanied them too! I feel happy because the efforts have not been in vain, it takes a lot dedication to carry out an encounter and that the result is what we appreciate, it is very rewarding !.
Congratulations to you Tony and the organizers ... a very big applause to all those who participated and made it possible for the meeting to be a success !!

Re: 1/2A Non-Contest Control Line Gathering
Thank you Roddie!
Getting to fly 1/2A models with friends who share this passion ...is a real treat! Watching kids fly 1/2A is always awesome, as long as they don't fall over from being dizzy.

NICE!! Wish I could have been there... Did that Peacemaker fly? Must have sounded awesome. Just noticed it is missing an engine
Nice models, good to see that the hobby is alive and well at least in some parts of the world

Peacemaker did fly with five engines running. I shot video and will try to post it tonight. Same with the Heinkel He 111.

Those two multi's were a TREAT to watch fly! The vapor-trails looked very cool and realistic! You don't see that with electrics! Both models were flying 5+ second laps, which was also very cool for 1/2A power. When you add-up the five/six .049 engine-displacements; they were flying with the power of single .25/.29 engines!

Re: 1/2A Non-Contest Control Line Gathering
I'm dazzled! Beautiful videos and I like the video pan of all 126 models in attendance. Picked out what I believe to be a Black Hawk Models Mosquito and several variations of the Cox PT-19. The multi's were spectacular but all were wonderful.

Tony, Congratulations to you and Tony2 on setting up the whole 1/2a Day! Plus getting Evelyn’s first flight on a PT19 on video! Too Cool.
Almost to the end of the video she kneels down by the plane, the battery shown looks to be a 6 volt lantern battery?? Or is it really a 1 1/2 volt? The position of the wire connections make it look like the Ray 0 Vac 6 volt to me.
If it is a 1.5 volt ...where did you get it?
Thanks.
