Cox Engine of The Month
Rascal Gets a Go Pro

Rascal Gets a Go Pro
Since the Norvel .074 in my ARF Rascal has been proven to adequately haul the little plane around, it's getting an upgrade from it's key fob cameras to a Go Pro.
Once again utilizing my philosophy of "It doesn't matter WHAT it looks like as long as it works", I rubberbanded a couple spruce planks to either side of it's fuse as anchors for the Go Pro's bands.
Probably also gonna do a wingtip arrangement with two Go Pros, but figure to try this first.
Haven't flown it yet, but will post the videos here once it happens!

Thanks Marleysky!! I blame it all on Andy Clancy of Lazy Bee Fame! The guy REALLY made talented use of rubber bands to help make airplane parts and accessories removable/exchangeable!
The Rascal has gotten three days of flying logged...back-to-back...and as expected, it DOES NOT like that big ole camera strapped to it's back. It's mostly untrimmable in pitch and roll as it bucks and tries to chuck it's parasite. Demanding hands-on-flying the whole time it's in the air, it's landings are made by diving into a conveniently located patch of tall weeds out in the cow lot.
Still got a bunch of good video captures from the footage, and it may get it's lower res key fob cameras reinstalled so video flying and fun flying can happen at the same time.
It also occurred to me that I haven't flown the little plane without some type of camera on board (these little gadgets are badly addictive), including it's first test flight, so I pulled all the camera stuff from it, and logged several flights just for the fun of it.
It's a great flying little plane, with an 'aileron-like' rudder that lets me pull off some very good looking rolls and split-S's and such. Got to try to get the Norvel to throttle down a bit more, and add some taller wheels before I can shoot landings and takeoffs from the front yard though.
Thanks again to Tony for directing me to those little Hobbico on-board voltage indicators...I've got one attached to the servo deck inside the Rascal, and gonna install them in my other planes!
Happy Independence Day Dudes!!!
"When in doubt...aim for the tall weeds!"

I think it's about perfect for this little plane. I've got a fairly nicked-up APC 7x3 bolted to it, and 2 oz. tank, running muffler pressure that give a nice idle. The top end is not vertical performance, but hauls it along nicely. I've intended to put a tach on it but keep forgetting.
I've got no spare parts for the Norvel, so need to getting some glow inserts and such, AND may try a spinner on it to spruce the whole thing up a bit.
