A homely Bee.. A good little runner.

My favorite Cox engine, the venerable Pee Wee .020 on a plane that means a lot to me as well Not sure what year this kit was made, But I know I had one in either 1968 or 1969. Flew the wings off of it on very short lines, in the cul de sac we lived on. Once, I started the motor with my brother on the handle and let it go. Almost immediately after standing up, the plane center punched me in the back, knocking me flat on my face! I was lucky to find this awesome example of plane and engine, enjoy!

It's disc, It's official name is rather long winded. Valentine Cox Speed Racer Drum Valve RR1 Special

What is the difference between disc and drum valve? I have several of his disc valve engines.

Disc is like a flat plate with an opening in the face.

Drum is like a cylinder (or drum) with an opening in the side.

Strictly speaking I wasn’t exactly right saying disc although that’s the closest definition between your question disc or reed.
Loosely speaking a disc valve can be any circular part of a device that shuts, opens or moderates flow. These can do this by moving edgeways across the flow or rotating through their axis. They can also do it in a manner very similar to a reed valve, for example a crankcase venting valve, negative crankcase pressure, disc valve sucked shut, positive crankcase pressure disc valve pushed open. You see the similarity here. If a reed valve was a circular shape you could call it a disc valve. A disc valve although it may move around a bit does not need to rotate to perform its function
A rotary valve is exactly that. It’s a disc with a hole or opening away from its central axis. When the disc rotates the opening in the disc lines up with a corresponding opening allowing the flow to take place then shuts it off as the disc rotates on. These have to rotate to work. This type can also be called a drum valve although I tend to think of drum valves as being more tubular.

There’s bound to be someone on here can explain it better than I have. I’m sure I’ve got a spare RR1 rotary valve somewhere. I’d post a picture of it for you but at the moment I can’t find it.
This reminds me of a Kawasaki I was riding that suddenly and explicably stopped as though the key had been turned off. Later examination found that the big-end brass thrust washer had broken and as murphy’s law would have it the remains were passing through the disc valve opening but hadn’t quite made it all the way through when the opening closed. The outer part of the disc was fibre and when the piece of washer jammed itself in there the fibre disc promptly stopped and sheared itself off from its drive collar and that was the end of that.
