Re: Cox Ski-Doo on eBay
If that's what you consider rough then you have some pretty high standards!!!
That is one of the cooler models Cox came up with for sure.

In the Jan 1975 issue of MAN is explained how to convert the Ski-Doo into RC.

Re: Cox Ski-Doo on eBay
Maybe "rough" relates to the freaky price....
I freely admit to paying "way too much" for some of my Nostalgia items
But for me... if the desire is to really relive my youth, I just find comparable ways
I understand ---for a collector that must have at least ONE of EVERYTHING the (IMO Insanely) high costs
and I am totally OK with how ANYONE wants to spend their treasure
I know a bunch of non sense coming from a guy who would easily put out $50,000 for a pristine 1959 Caddy El Dorado re done by Foose....like that will ever happen...

Well.. it does look pretty nice.. but the seller's description reveals some issues that would cause me to take a few steps back.. if I was a collector. Although it appears to be molded in a yellow-color.. I don't think that Cox ever made a yellow one.. but I could be wrong. If it "was" painted.. the modeler did a very nice job for sure. Maybe Mark Boesen could tell us for sure.
Here's a YouTube vid. It's likely the same one as on the other thread.. judging on the comment you made Ron..

The gentleman in the You Tube vid is our own CEF member Bill Steklenski. Bill has provided a few You Tube vids of his wonderful cars as well. Bill is a big time collector of the Cox Jeeps, Sandblasters, Baja Bugs and Matador stockers. Bill provided me with a beautiful example of the Baja Bug which is just absolutely cool. I recall the first time I saw the snowmobile and I have to say it's pretty darn impressive and quite an engineering feat for a cool toy. I see Bill at some of the swap meets and his Cox examples are truly something to drool over. Ken

Well that's kinda' cool to know Ken. (regarding Bill S.) I never had the pleasure of owning any Cox-powered "ground vehicles".. but I remember as a kid; (circa late 60's/early 70's) seeing the Cox models (as well as the Testors..) listed along with other items.. that could be attained by selling X-amount of greeting-cards.. or something of that nature. It was a small catalog that also had camping-stuff, bicycles, sporting-goods.. etc. that the enterprising young person could get.. if they sold enough orders.
Something like this..
I've always LOVED snowmobiles! I could never afford a "full-scale" sled in my early years.. and as an adult, I still couldn't justify the expense; given the inconsistent Winters here in Southern New England. If I'd stayed married to my first wife.. I could have had a LOT of toys.. but I didn't choose to play that game.
So... "now"... I'm not in what you'd call terrific-shape financially.. but I am happily-married this time.
ahem... I digress.. A scale-model snow-mobile built with "today's technology".. performs a lot better...
Check-out this YouTube vid of an "ArtAttack" EP/brushless sled. This guy has done a few mods.. and has several vids.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JB9RHc06ho
And here's a WAY-COOL nitro-powered sled with on-board "electric-starter"..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP8OcQTm9i4
Both of those models in the vids are running in deep-powder.. which is a real performance test. I have a 1:8 scale R/C "Inter-Active" brand Polaris model that's pretty nice looking.. but the performance from the small "brushed motor" and NiMh battery is lack-luster. It's not powerful enough to run in deep-powder. It was originally a $50 model that went on clearance at my local Walmart. By late Spring.. the price was reduced to $13.. so I scooped it!
There's Youtube vids of this model hopped-up with brushless-motors though.. and they're pretty impressive.
Re: Cox Ski-Doo on eBay
If you are really into snow machines, there's a guy on Craigslist selling one Cox ski-do with some John Deere models. If you happen to be near Milwaukee:
https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/csw/snw/5977877430.html
Want to sell them as a lot.
Ooo, if you look closely , one of the framed prints is a group snowmobiling in Australia!!

Dang it. Darn you Marleysky! I just spent a few minutes looking at the framed prints looking for the identifier of one being in Australia. Even so much as expanding the second one trying to read the text upside down. Then the light switch clicked and the lightbulb turned on as I was in this stupid pose at my computer....... Lol. I'll have to pay better attention next time. Thanks for the laugh at both the comment and myself.

That's up near my uncle's house, about 60 minutes north/west of the Twin Cities. He works at the nuke plant in Monticello. I cannot guarantee (he doesn't answer his phone 50% of the time), but I could ask him to go get it if anyone wants it.

PS. By the way, what are you doing looking at my Craigslist?...stay off my turf!

Well, I just hope our good friend Rod, don't mind me getting a few laughs at his homelands expense. I love Australia, it's on my bucket list of places to go to.
