We will be implementing a tax increase of 0.

It is like that in a lot of places sadly.

OK, let's get back to this question. What is different between these 2 motors, besides mine shows some use?
Re: Thought I would share some pics of my 049s
Yours has a thick neck crankcase these from my experience perform a bit worse but really it is fine.
Re: Thought I would share some pics of my 049s
THen it was most likely used a pusher at some point in time.

Crankcase neck is thinner on the one inside the Piper Cub. Backplate is inverted also.
Brass driveplate you said on one.

That's interesting..... I've never had a pusher..
Re: Thought I would share some pics of my 049s
Well people also use them when they use E starters on their engines because they are reduced friction.

Re: Thought I would share some pics of my 049s
My cousin is in town. He remembers it as a CAP Super Cub 105 like this one.

Maybe someone replaced it and disgarded the original.
Re: Thought I would share some pics of my 049s
Found out in my wanted ad that the tank is a 62-63, which would make the plane a SuperCub 150 and not a 105. Hard to remember so many years ago when I only had messed with it for a half hour and found out the engine mount in the plane was junk.
Re: Thought I would share some pics of my 049s
Hi Travis,
I reread your post and your correct, all you need is a "thin" tapered case with the starter spring groove, if your try to make a "early/mid" sixties Babe Bee that came out of the Super Cub 150.
The "straight" case you have now is usually seen on car engines. Its kind of tuff to call a engine a specific year as constant production change makes that pretty hard unless the engine was only made for a year (Strato Bug) or two (silver case RR-1)

Re: Thought I would share some pics of my 049s
If you look at the 105 above it doesn't have the spring grove.
Re: Thought I would share some pics of my 049s
yes I know, are you trying to build a engine for a 105 or a 150??????
Re: Thought I would share some pics of my 049s
My cousin and I believe it was a 105. I remember the engine being a little difficult to remove or different, which could have been because it was mounted upside-down compared to my PT-19 I had.
