Re: Shop helpers
So glad to hear the Parvo was found early enough to treat...particularly nasty virus that, around here, is nearly always fatal
Had to look up Swiss Mountain dog...no help from me on what breed the cute lady might be
Guest dogs here can be a challenge too. We manage, but I truly look forward to the owner (my son-- or wife's girl friend) returning. We dog sit for a week or two as they ( my local son or Renie's quilting friend) go on holiday. My son's dog, a big boxer female Molly is just a giant kid but at 100Lbs dwarfs all of our little kids and they play terribly rough so I must always be ready... When we doggy sit Renie's friend's Lilly, a 25LB Female Jack Russel Terror (intentional mis spelting) there is a LOT of loud barking to deal with that wears me down a lot
The photos of Atlas are wonderful, thanks

Re: Shop helpers
God bless our pets. They give us so much pleasure.. and ask for so little in return..
A public-service announcement
This is "Sally"... She's a kitten.
and this is a Guillows Fokker DR-1..
This is Sally's dark-side...
I didn't actually see it happen.. but
I kept it up-high (five feet.....) on top of a wardrobe in my shop.. along with a Thomas Morse Scout and Nieuport II of the same series.. where I thought they were reasonably safe.. but you know what thought did? "Thought" thought he farted.. and crapped his pants.

Sally is just letting you know she wants a ride in a 1/4 Scale Fokker
No photos because I was very devastated... Gus was so proud!
He got a good leap and bit my--- hanging to dry -just finished doping -wing .......for a very light weight Ring Master.. the wing fell to the floor
When I entered the shop to see the wing in a bizzillion pieces I just had to sit a bit....thankfully I had some Makers Mark handy and a good MontyChristo #2 in the humidor
I love my shop helpers.... really I do...
But some days they try very hard to test my love

FE: Shop Helpers
For over 20 years my wife and our two daughters had anywhere from one to four cats in the house.
It took me a very long while to learn to coexist with each. Some were strays and some were "Free Kittens".
I learned to actually like them and have fun with them.
I learned two things however:
1.If you feed a cat once it's yours forever......
2.If they had opposable thumbs to open cans of cat food by themselves, they would never need you again.
Steve..

Re: Shop helpers
This started out to be a story related to Fred's experience about our Miniature Schnauzer Named Christy, and my newly painted 1959 Corvette.
Christy was active and hated to be bored and every time we left her for periods longer than a couple of hours she would grab the toilet paper and paper the house, (among other things) so I put her in the garage with the Corvette. Nine hours pass and I come home from work only to find that she had scratched every lower panel of the car attempting I would guess to gain entry. It's a good thing Mark came home at the same time and got in-between me and the dog. It was the first and last time she got garaged. Years later Mark and girlfriend took her to the vet to be euthanized because I just couldn't do it. I cried like a baby while digging her grave in the back yard.
But I'm not going to tell that story, rather a story about one of my favorite all time "shop helpers". Bugsie the Love Bird. I don't know why, I just wanted one. Got him home and he was aloof, not wanting to get involved with anybody. So I locked us in the bathroom and just sat on the floor talking to him. He bounced around for a good hour before hopping up on my shoulder. From then on we were best buddies.
He became my constant computer companion, riding on my mouse finger and picking at the (before optical) mouses tail. He was not happy with the Yorkie, constantly buzzing her when she came around me. One time as Skittles the Yorkie persisted he ran her out of the computer room, moments later Skittles ran back in with Bugsie on her on her back. I had to physically remove him. We all laughed at that.
Bugsie bird..........
