Re: Help remembering
Like the long forgotten Wanda Jackson, I just heard for the first time in decades another I forgot...
Eilen Jewell singing Shakin' All Over from the Sea of Tears album
what this song does is show us how good a 1940s~1950s microphone was...even when sent over internet very deeply compressed
no link but worth search for...great song too

Re: Help remembering
I picked these up at a garage sale a little over a week ago. Bunch of 60s rock. Maybe there's something in here that you haven't thought of yet.
Some of these are pretty rare to come across...
The Cowsills
Sam The Sham and the Pharaohs
Don Fardon
Mitch Ryder
The Turtles
The Troggs
1910 Fruitgum Co.
Ohio Express
Blue Cheer
Master Jack
The Blue Cheer tape is probably the rarest of the bunch. The Rolling Stones - Out Of Our Heads "flatpack" cartridge is also quite rare.

Getting a lot done now that WX is nicer
Or, alternatively " How much can you do with Pandora Rockabilly music playing?"
Finally got a day when I-net is somewhat decent enough to use Pandora
Currently jamming in the shop, getting a lot done, and Dancing around playing air -guitar or -drums with the "Shop helpers"
No less than 5 models each getting a bit done
Pipeline, Wipe Out, and a lot of other real up beat tunes got my mood zooming.....
My son has to get to work by 4 PM but currently outside BBQ/Smoking up 5 racks of ribs (since 5 this AM)
He is off tomorrow so gonna go fly around 9 AM
Jamming

Re: Help remembering
I found this too late at night to participate. I'll get back to it tomorrow. Btw, it's Roy Orbison. His last production I think was as a member of the first Traveling Wilburys album. I played the Wilbury Twist on my Stooge Dance video when the Shoestring's stooge line got wrapped around my ankles.
Really, you never heard of Savoy Brown! You should investigate immediately! Look up their album "Looking in" on the tube and listen to the whole thing. They sort of fell apart when Kim Simmons and Lonesome Dave Peverett disagreed on the direction in which to take their music. Kim was all about Blues, but Dave went on to form Foghat, a more rock style band. Savoy Brown is one of my all time favorites. I found them about the same time I found Alvin Lee's "Ten Years After."
Tomorrow.
Rusty
Hawkwind?
Pure Prarie League?
The Flying Burrito Brothers?
Commander Cody (and the Lost Planet airmen)?
Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys?
Listen to the Yardbirds and see if you recognize a lot of Led Zeppelin riffs.
My first live concert ever was the Guess Who.
Buffalo Springfield?.... I bet all of these have been listed already. I didn't read the whole thread.

Re: Help remembering
Lets take a real trip to the past:
WHK 1420AM Cleveland - November-11-1958
KYA 1260AM San Francisco - August-8-1959
WCOP 1150AM Boston - 1961
KDWB 630AM Minneapolis/St.Paul - February-10-1963
KYA 1260AM San Francisco - May-23-1964
KSTP 1500AM Minneapolis/St.Paul - December-2-1966
KRLA 1100AM Pasadena - June-1967
XERB 1090AM Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico (Wolfman Jack) - October-17-1967
WCFL 1000AM Chicago - June-4-1970
WYOO 101.3FM/980AM "U100" Minneapolis/Saint Paul - 1975 (tape 1)
WYOO 101.3FM/980AM "U100" Minneapolis/Saint Paul - 1975 (tape 2)
They vary in audio quality, some can sound really good and others can sound pretty bad. Some were recorded straight off the board at the radio station, while others were recorded by someone off their radio (where the quality of the radio, reception, recorder and tape all come into play). Then it comes down to how they were stored for so many years and then how good the transfer to digital was (noise removal programs often do more harm than good). The rough sounding ones still make good background music though.
Check this out too:
http://rockradioscrapbook.ca/index.html - This is one of the best sites to find good quality un'scoped (complete with music and commercials) airchecks.
I have 100s of airchecks from around the country spanning over 70 years, give me some stations you remember and maybe I have it or can find it.
You might also like this.
Hear a little Yardbirds, Count Five, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Stevie Ray, Ozzy...
Every night at 11pm the local classic rock station "cranks the volume up to 11" and plays deep cuts and other heavier tunes.

NOT
EVER
Pay attention to;
Charlie Daniels song
Simple Man
lyrics
THis, after a extreme level of resisting commenting on some political threads as I deal with unusually cool weather this day in Texas
OK ....cool ....while waiting on a can of paint to warm up
I am off to explore a whole bunch of other songs this one reminded me about
Feeling....redneck
