For Sale: ODD Stuff! Jetex Augmenter Tube and Glendale Hobby Supply Engine Choke/Cut Off
Clearing out the corners and would like to see this stuff go to a loving home:
1. Jetex Augmenter Tube (Made in England...really!). Thin aluminum tube and funnel that surrounds a Jetex 50 motor, increasing it's thrust by a whole 1/2 ounce! Included wire extension for lighting, some yarn wick, instructions, and box.
No extra charge for the faded 1970's 'Hobby Hole' sales tag!
Good shape, but tape is loose and box is wavy from moisture over the years.
2. Glendale Hobby Supply free flight engine choke/cut-off for five classic "AA" engines. Wax paper package is readable, but rough.
It's all in the photos.
Ten bucks plus whatever shipping it takes to get it to you...I usually go cheap as possible, and will ship all the way to Botswania if you want to cover it!
PM me to Adopt !

Geez.. the Jetex has always piqued my interest! There was a Jetex website, with repro-engines and fuel pellets available. I'll see if I saved the link. Bill Dean's "Book of Balsa Models" features at least 3 Jetex designs. My favorite is a boat called the "Swordfish".
The plans say to use asbestos paper.. What could be substituted for that? I'm sure that many of the models need a heat-shield.. unless the motor is on a pylon-mount. Maybe the augmenter-pipe would eliminate the need for a heat shield?

Maybe mica sheet for a heat shield. I still have asbestos sheet. Comes in handy if you need to heat up a part with a torch and don't want to burn surrounding areas. Only bad if you creat dust. They used to mine the stuff out if the ground.

I'd go for a thin aluminium sheet (beer can for example) and mount it so that it doesn't touch the wood underneith. If you use screws to mount the aluminum, maybe install a 1/8" thick washer between the aluminum and wood.
