Re: Micro Ringmaster Plans
Thank you. Looks like with some tweaking pull with a 31k + engine would allow an even 20ft set of lines.
Should be bearable to track around at that pace and a bit of a heart thumper.
The air foiled version would be a real treat to fly, 3.5 x 1.5 prop for stunt flying set bit rich.
Great back yard fun!

the last two are finally going out today.. been crazy here between my wife and work and then tuesday morning my son went over the handlebars of his bike going to school and ended up in the ER. pretty banged up and a slight separation of the ac joint in his right shoulder but he's recovering..

Re: Micro Ringmaster Plans
Dang Rodger sorry to hear about your son
I did same damage but a different fall... (crash landed a UH-1H Huey)
I assure you--- he will, forever, be able to know when the Barometer is falling or rising
Some days I hate my shoulder aches--- and long ago told I the VA to pound sand..NO MORE cortisone shots with too little Lidocaine
it is just part of life sometimes living with aches an pains
BTW good products you put out... I hope you retire some day from a paying job and produce more of your good stuff
I still desire your Cox cylinder based flite box... but I have plenty of time to wait on you to have the free time and spare PLY

thanks fred!
i appreciate the kind words...
i have a couple other requests for the pit box and will try and run some off soon. i really enjoy mine over dragging the big box out of the car. my laser is acting up and need to get to the bottom of it sooner than later and will need to get it up to speed to be able to cut the 1/4" ply needed for the pit box

Re: Micro Ringmaster Plans
Mine is on the way, so I'll start on it the day it arrives. , and it needs to be finished by the time the Traveling TD .010 arrives in Columbia, and I'm really looking forward to it. And for once I don't have any pressing projects on the agenda. Today I fished new leadouts through the Nobler ARF wing. Getting that doggone bellcrank installed is the hardest part of building it.
Speaking of bellcranks, I have a tiny one for the micro-Ring. Maybe 2 inches or so. I don't know what size cranks people usually use on the teeny planes. I'll look up a parts list and pictures to see what sort of motor mount configuration it needs, and how much it weighs so I can hopefully build it balanced. I better put ultralight fishing line on my shopping list too.
This'll be fun. Back to the churchyard for a change.

Hey Rusty, here's a few photos I found in my archives from "Flying Lines". This model was flown on 22' lines.. although I don't know what type. Those solid lead-outs look like they'd be a bit heavy for such a tiny model.
My notes say that this is "Mike Hazel" at Roseburg 2010
Gene Pape at the handle and Mike Hazel pit-man.. (22' lines)
Mike Hazel flying..
Re: Micro Ringmaster Plans
Mike and Gene are friends of mine, I can email questions to them if need be. I know this was mike's model and if I remember right, a stock build pat king kit. Mike had write up about the build and flying on flying lines.

Rusty got his today. Sorry I have not been on. My kit included the bell crank and control horn cut from plywood.
Curious to see some of these built

Re: Micro Ringmaster Plans
Duke, do you know what kind of line spacing is at the handle with the 22' lines" I'm thinking like about 2" or maybe 2-1/2".

Bump
For 1/2A Nut:
How did you determine engine speed from the video? I tried some Android apps on my phone, but none were consistent enough for me.
TIA!
