Twin Cities Ford Plant Closes Today
More American jobs lost...
The Twin Cities Ford plant was the oldest plant still running, closed after 86 years of operation. They built mostly Ford Rangers. Sad Day...

Dave that is a very old phrase and i think i said it here about may this year.
Re: Twin Cities Ford Plant Closes Today
Yet another symptom of a stalled economy when domestic automotive producers close their doors.
I bought my first Ford used in '62 and have been a loyal Ford fan since. I have found them to be of quality and reliability. Our current '06 Ford van is no exception as I have religously followed the maintence schedule on all of them.
Yes, I have owned other makes but that have never compared favorably to my Ford's.
When will this nation come to the realization that the domestic economy simply can't absorb the awesome expense of foreign war wars and they absorb so many of our national resourses? Probably as soon as the President and Congress actually come to fulfill their sworn oaths.
We elect them. How many of us see the peril into which they have placed our nation? The '12 election will determine our fate one way or the other.
What are YOU going to in any way change the direction our country is going? Watching "reality" TV or pro-sports?
Rant concluded.

Did I say that I orginated the phrase? (No) I said that I first used it here. Did I not?
Nothing that I have read from you had any mention.
But it's really not anything to parse at this joyous time of year. Happly holidays!

Ford is going to stop making and selling new Rangers in America. The last American one was made yesterday! They said the sales were dropping for the last 10 years.
There's some more about it here.

I`m going to do my part at trying to elect officials that at least have a clue where to start and that starting to fix is far far behind schedule!!
In hindsight I will say again what I said years ago in forsight: Ross Perot at least has the right idea in mind, fix US up first and everything is less priority on the list of importance. I`m not degrading the value of other issues HOWEVER this issue must be adressed while there is still oportunity for repair.
I`m not his biggest supporter but maybe he would have done us some good!!
Someone has got to realize the BIG picture has been ignored for far too long.
Our economy has been a bad gunshot wound being ignored for far too long;It will never go away or heal itself without some attention.

Re: Twin Cities Ford Plant Closes Today
People often mocked Ross Perot as "the hand grenade with a bad haircut" for his forceful presentations and personal appearance.
America's prefer politicians that tell them what they want to hear possible or not; "snakeoil salesmen if you will. EXAMPLE: "Hope you can believe in".
"Golden-throated" orators promising things often so unattainable and yet so appealing. Just promise the moon and worry about the details later.
Like so many thing in life, judgements about people are best formed by observing their behaviors rather that listening to their words.

Re: Twin Cities Ford Plant Closes Today
Dad had a old 86 Ranger and went and traded it in for a 97 2WD here about mid summer. Nice little red truck with the hard bed cover on hydraulic lift rams. Had to replace one of those rams due to it not holding the cover up,, spendy little buggers.

Since the cover and lift rams were not of Ford manfacture, don't blame Ford.
