Hi everybody, I need help about vintage cox engine (tee dee 0.10 & 0.20)
Hi,
I live in France and I bought on a flea market two old engines. They are as new, in the box, with notice, a tool, some stickers... Do you have an idea of their value (I am interested in, but I think that I will sell one ; moreover, the person who sold me those two, told me he has about 60 engines at home and ready to sell)
I am a beginner in collecting engines (and please I apologize for my english !)

Hi There! Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on buying those engines. They are certainly valuable in new condition. It looks like you tried to post photos. You have to wait a few days (week?) after becoming a member, to post photos. It's always nice to hear that someone bought some NIB Cox engines!
Thank you for welcoming !
In fact I bought today, to the same seller, some other engines... The two Tee-Dee are now on ebay... I chose the "make an offer" option ; because I think that my prices are high...
You can see them, they are the only Cox in plastic boxes...

Hmmm... What do they normally go for over there on eBay? €160 is about $180 here. The average going price I've seen here on US eBay is around $100-$120, or around €88 to €105.

Thank you for your answers...
I know that my prices are high, that's why you have the "Make an offer" option !
The one who sends me a price like the ones you mention will certainly be the next owner of those engines !
I apologize for my english again !

About my prices : my engines are boxed,
In the vintage crystal box, with all the accessories... For some collectors, it makes a difference...
But anyway you are right, those prices are a little bit too high, I'm just waiting for some reasonable offers... !

Re: Hi everybody, I need help about vintage cox engine (tee dee 0.10 & 0.20)
Hikikomori,
I have no experience watching eBay over in France, but I've noticed something about eBay over here in the States. If someone posts an item with a high "Buy It Now" price, it rarely sells. I figure they got that price by looking at past auctions and taking the highest price the same item has sold for, thinking they can just ask for that. But bidders usually don't bother with those, seeing them as unrealistic. But if another person takes the exact same item, puts a low beginning bid on it, and lets the auction run for about 6 days, the bidding starts low and then usually runs up to a price about where the first person set their "Buy It Now" price. Gotta figure in the "Auction Fever" angle. The person who set the high price never gets the sale, but the patient person who started low usually gets the sale. By setting a high price and taking offers, you might get an offer that you accept which is lower than you could get if you let the auction run. I'm not guaranteeing that it will happen, I'm just posting my observations. You should see if you can contact some other sellers in France to see how they sell for maximum profits.

To the Forum hikikomori89 , Nice Looking engines you have and Mark is correct on the observation of Auctions but they can bee risky , If there has been an flood of the engine you are selling sometimes its best to let things settle down for a while . You have to watch and keep up with whats selling . Just my Eric

Hi, news about those engines, and some informations about ebay,
Thank you first for all your answers...
Both engines are already sold ! (80 € and 120 €)
The "Buy it now" works very well, you just have to wait a little bit longer, sometimes ! But for my engines, two days have been enough to sell them.
In France, the auctions on Ebay are dangerous, since about a year or two (crisis !). Most of the time, you sell for a lower price using auctions... I have more than 4500 evaluations and I am a pro seller...
When your product is really wanted, auction is OK... I will never know if I could have sold them for a higher price with auction ; but they are sold for the price I wanted !

Welcome to Cox Engine Forum, Hikikomori. I hope you'll visit with us and post if you get into playing with Cox or any other types of model engines.

Who's clicking all the red negatives on Hikikomori's posts? Must be a mistake. Or someone's petty little brat's way of displaying one's disapproval with the content of a new member's posts. Rather than saying something constructive.

Welcome to to forum! Your posts are just fine, enjoyed seeing your pictures of the "new in package" engines, even if hosted by Happydad, (thanks HD!) till you are able to post your own. The"red" marks should be a mistake, I know I have inadvertently issued them a while back using my iPad to scroll thru a thread....it gives you a "your vote has been cast" message. Oops, didn't mean to do that, so I sent a note apologizing for the error. (Whoever gave you reds, should do the same)
That Ohlsson is one prime example of a collectors item, for sure!

Just a reminder, as a new member, Hikikomori, be sure and explore our forums and note the different sections for Cox and non-Cox engines and buying, selling, different activities and interests. Then when you start a new thread it can be posted in an area that will draw the most attention from members that are interested in those sorts of things.
Again, Welcome to CEF, enjoy,
