Cox Engine of The Month
21 years, 4 months, 11 days

21 years, 4 months, 11 days
I retired from active duty AF today.
I apologize for my hiatus, I have been a little self absorbed lately as I was future planning and looking for work. I'll be back on more and more as time progresses.
I will also reply to all the PM's!
Ron

My cousin spent 24 years in the AF. Was crew chief on the C130s for many years. Was stationed in the UK, AK, and finally down in Littlerock, AR where he retired as a Master Sargent and is now working at Baker-Hughes. He spent some time in Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia after 9/11.

Oh that was you Ron? I thought is was some crazy CEF member counting the years he or she has owned Cox engines and this was some sort of anniversary.
Thanks for your service. I did my 3 years 10 months and xx days. Here it comes.
Something happens when you get old, but I can't remember what it is.
I hope you find work where you want to. When I got out one of my Chief Master Sargents retired and couldn't find work, so he went back in the Air Force. Of course that was 1970 and this is 2015. Maybe you can find work with Kim up on the flight line. . That's not really funny is it.
My advice is send out hundreds of resumes and hit the pavement daily. People to people is the best way to find a job. Not thru the job hunters. All they care about is the commission. Not you. I've been there. 6 layoffs in my illustrious carreer.
Best wishes to you and your family.
And last, but not least: get the bleep out of tornado alley.
P.s. Saw a Star Wars tie-fighter at Costco for $49.95 with twin ducted fans. I bet it flies great.

Ron,
I'd noticed your absence and wondered if it was forum burnout. Congratulations and thank you for your service. That can't be said enough. Wayne asked me last week if you had retired yet, and I wasn't sure.
I'm glad your job brought you to my corner of the world. I'll be glad to have you back on the forum. You are one of the core members I think of as the identity of CEF.
Take care,
Rusty

So, retired but not retired? At 41 you've got a lot of good working years left in you Ron. I suspect that military service does help to set you up well for your future life. I know out here (in OZ) the defence forces really look after their own present and past. I hope you get the same.

After I retired the military, all the services, helped pay for me to finish college. $395.00 wasn't much in 1976 when I restarted my bachelors degree, but it was all we had, plus a 3 1/2 year old girl, and I finished 2 years worth in 18 months.
So Ron if you don't have some sort of degree, now is the time to start, or restart. They will help up to a certain point. The rules are very different now.
Go get em.
Happydad, but sleepy.

Good on ya Ron!
And getting back in the mix as civilian will prove a good thing I hope. Worked out well for me and my wife when we got to finally secure (permanent?) military civilian jobs after a few years as temps.
Any how, CONGRTULATIONS and Thanks for YOUR service

Blast from the past! What's Going On!

@Cribbs74, has it been that long ago? Feels like only yesterday! Past 8 years (a year before you) collect retired reservist pay for 21 years ending 2000, get to wear 7 hash marks (1 for every 3 years) on my dress uniform if I so desire. (But have no desire, the retired medallion on the dress uniform sans any other unit markings IMO appears a little cheesy, and I've gained weight since! )
Reminds me of a song:
Ron Cribbs with a fast pass of his Ringmaster.
Ron Cribbs helping me with a pull test on my Ringmaster.
