Cox A Matic Cam

Cox A Matic Cam
New one on me. I had to google it. Not much there until I found this: Cox Action Van. One on ebay now for $95.00.
It came in a bunch of ebay stuff, I really just wanted the Testors and Wen Mac wrenches, the NIB Cox .010 glow head was a bonus. Look for the disk just above the Cox glow plug clip.

Hey Bob, I'm pretty sure that's one of a "set" of interchangeable cams for programming different steering patterns for the model. There's probably a # or letter molded into it, to tell you which one you're using. It looks to be driven off the rear axle. I think there was also an Army Jeep that had the programmable steering.
Edit: well.. I guess not this jeep.. but I thought you might enjoy this. I did!

Very nice find both with the Cox Van and the parts. Can you post a picture of the side of the Van? I am currently in the process of restoring a Red Cox Shrike. The engine was in almost new condition, but there is road-fuel gunk in all the creases of the car and very hard to clean out. Your car seems to be very clean. Have you already cleaned it up?

which one? the cox action van, the cox shrike or the cox proprod? there are several on ebay of each category. It all depends if you want a project car, no wheels, etc., or a ready to run, RTR. The projects start in the $20.00 range and the RTR start in the $90.00 and go up. I saw a Cox Shrike RC version with parts missing that starts at $80.00 plus shipping that wasn't in bad shape, but was missing the original Cox radio transmitter. It could be converted to 72MHz or better 2.4GHz for about $20.00 and made into a fast RC Shrike. Maybe too fast with a Cox babe bee pusher. Maybe try the 2nd channel for throttle ....

Great video roddie and a fantastic place to run it. All it needed was General Patton riding shotgun.

I just looked at it again roddie, it says "zig zag" on it followed by XXXXXXXXX. Pretty varible steering sequences with a set of cams.

yes, I saw one was still for sale. The way the link started it sounded link the Van came in a bunch of stuff from ebay. oops.
I am NOW assuming just the parts in the send pic came from ebay and you were enquiring about the small wheel looking device just below the Cox .010 glow head. Now it all makes sense.
BTW does anyone know where to get the manual for the Coc Shrike. I found the P/L under Instruction sheets, but no manual.
I also looked at all the links at the end of the instruction sheet, engine data, etc. area. guess I'll contact Admin.
