Needs some education...Pros and Cons

When would you want to use a 1702 Glow head?

When wouldn't you want to use one?

Would it be a good idea to put one on the 049 in my Matador Stock car?

Thanks!

I've seen that link, but it shows application but no additional info. It doesn't seem to tell me why it is used. Is the 1702 used to "hop up" a motor? If it does...then why wouldn't they use it on all 049s?

The motor in my Matador is not a standard Babe Bee, but the 1702 would fit it.

The 1702 head is simply a performance enhancing head that raises compression. That's why you see it on TD's, KB's Venom etc. Also found on the QZ engines to restore lost performance from the use of a muffler.

So, to answer your question, yes you can use it on your Matador. Depending on engine condition, fuel used and shim count you may very well see an increase in performance. There are many variables that affect performance the head is just one.

HC heads Small Cox Logo
- work great in the winter
- if you have low nitro
- work good with spi to burn the extra fuel / air
- others will think your the shiz nizzle and know a trick or two
- will wonder how much that vintage HC plug cost
- will bug you for a spare

Thumbs Up

HI Darron,

When would you want to use a 1702 Glow head?  ANYTIME YOU WANT MORE RPM FROM YOUR ENGINE

When wouldn't you want to use one? CAN'T THINK OF ANY REASON (UNLESS YOU NEED TO DE-TUNE YOUR ENGINE...)

Would it be a good idea to put one on the 049 in my Matador Stock car?  SURE, WHY NOT?

Cons: New 1702's may be considered 'pricey' by some...
