Ultra - Micro Combat

Ultra - Micro Combat
Me, My uncle, and my 8 year-old brother went up to the schoolyard to fly our micros. Me, a micro Parkzone Sukhoi Su-26m, my brother, a Hobbyzone micro Champ, and my uncle, a Parkzone Micro T-28.
After a few batteries worth, my brother says, "HEY, WHY DON'T WE HAVE A DOGFIGHT?"
So we all go up at once, and after about 10 seconds the T-28 clips the Champ and slices the wing clean off. I really did not think they could do that. The Champ goes into a death spiral, crashing to the ground while the other half of the wing floats off downwind. The battery flew out, and we serached for 10 minutes before finding it.
Being over-dramatic, he commands me to get revenge on the T-28. I go up, and we hit head on wide open throttle. The T-28 fell out the air while I flew inverted and hovered over it. I land, see I have put a nice tear in the T-28. My Sukhoi suffers a large gash in the leading edge of the wing.
Some blenderm tape, CA, accelerator, and 10 minutes later, everything was back to normal and flying flawlessly. (almost)
We decided not do it again. At least not with $100 airplanes.
I took up the .049 Cub a few times without killing anyone....

Cool.
That sounds like fun I must try that one day.
I may have asked this before but can the sukhoi prop hang?

There has been a lot of controversy about this! Even with video proof.
Stock, it cannot. If you put a black end-bell motor in it, use a quality battery, install a GWS 5x3 prop, and add a little weight to the tail while removing from the front, YES! Mine is a little too heavy to do it well now with all the tape/glue/reinforcements, but it used to.
The newer XP can do it much better with little modification.
Re: Ultra - Micro Combat
Thanks for the Info!
I hope to learn 3D with a UMX extra 300 that i am expecting for Christmas fingers crossed.

You will love every inch of that airplane.
If you find it does not perform well with the stock E-flite 150's, Hyperion 160mAh batteries will really wake it up. Plus, they are about $4 less expensive. (don't want to use the word "cheap" )
Re: Ultra - Micro Combat
I have already got 2 of those that i use on my MSR.
I also have some 130s and 150s

My well-loved and flown Sukhoi. This is her maiden picture. Great focus and lighting.

oh that sukhoi.
Lookin' good but i would imagine orientation is hard.

Actually, I have not had any problems with orientation. It has two sets of red stripes on the bottom which help a lot. The tail is the weak point of this plane.
Re: Ultra - Micro Combat
I love my Champ, with full throws it's great! here's one of my favorite videos:

Re: Ultra - Micro Combat
I would imagine I have heard that from several people.
The tail does look rather fragile.

Nice,
How long have you been doing 3D and realisticly how long do you reckon it will take me to learn?

Hmm, I have been into RC ever since I was 9, with "Airhogs" planes and helicopters. If it weren't for a good friend at my club, I would not be here. It is really hard to say, I mean, what do you think constitutes as 3D? Every since I got my first plane I have been trying to do crazy things. If I could fly more often I think I could do just about anything.
nice Microflitedude
Nice work, You make it look easy
I think I will stick with me blade msr for indoor flying (its cool flying it in the total dark indoors), until I hear about a micro heli that size that has true 3d capabilities (like my blade cp pro does) ; my lmh110 isn`t an indoor heli, but I have tried in my basement , not so pretty

It really is easy and enjoyable with practice. They hate any kind of wind, though. When my batteries were still good, I would do "noontime demos" for the neighborhood kids.
You know the MCPX is a micro flybarless CP heli?
Re: Ultra - Micro Combat
nitroairplane wrote:I mean proper 3D as in prop hanging, torque rolling.....
I would say if you can already fly RC well, and can practice every day, about a week and it will be easy to hover. Then just keep messing around, knife edges, torque rolls, flat spins, snap rolls, rolling circles, etc.
I never did get the hang of rolling circles, way too much orientation involved.
uhoh.......houston............
The blade msr was top of the blade line in that size when I got it, (like my cp pro was) but now they have something better???, UHOH, houston, we may have to straighten up and revise that budget proposal for next month, unless santa gets on the ball
BUT, if he does pull through, RUDOLPH be sweatin by the time he gets that 18wheeler trailer load of my wish list to my house
I think I will stick to heli`s for my stunt flying fix lol
