Re: So...................
I guess it depends on what you plan to do with them. Fly? Buy engines that best fit the models you build. Collect? Buy em all!!!! Seriously though it depends on what you want to do and how deep your pockets are.

Plan? Plan? Ron?
I'm from England, we don't Plan.
We just kinda stumble around abit.
And even though Her Majesties Government would like to take all
of our beer tokens from us they haven't quite managed to
figure out how to.
Seriously though, money not withstanding what would be on your wishlists?

I have a small, green clad Gentleman tied up in my Basement Dave. I poke him with a fork
every so often but he still won't divulge his secret, as soon as he does I'll be sure
to tell you.

Figure...particularly if you're gonna fly it...some form of 8cc'd tanked engine...GoldenBee, SilverBee, BlackWidow, Dragonfly, or some mix of the above. You get a little more flying time than a Babe, and still no worries about plumbing a fuel supply.
Anyway...just my idea.... Later!

Re: So...................
Quite right. I'm at the graduation stage now, from tanked engines to more aggressive Tee Dees and Medallions. Trying to put them on planes that weren't built for them. I've spent a frustrating month figuring out the obvious and engineering what's already been designed. I'm about there now but not without too many crashes due to unexpected technical difficulties.Kim wrote:Figure...particularly if you're gonna fly it...some form of 8cc'd tanked engine...GoldenBee, SilverBee, BlackWidow, Dragonfly, or some mix of the above. The tanked engines will let you fly CL long enough to get the hang of it without falling down dizzy, or whatever the equivalent noob disaster is with the RC guys.

John I would say a space hopper a venom and a killer bee.
Also a tee dee .020 the best performing engine cox ever made.
Re: So...................
Space hopper Lined up Nitro, a teedee 020 on it's way from Holland as well
There was a Venom on Fleabay last week for 400 bucks BIN but the IMF still haven't
come up with my loan so I had to pass on that.
I know a lot of you on here probably think of this as sacrilege but all my 'workers'
will end up on an R/C rather than C/L, although.........................

teedee`s
Cox made a tank mount for the 049/051`s, and medallions too. It was probably only like 8cc tank, but it is simpler than plumbing a tank on some models. ( a norvel tank/mount may work well too, havn`t tried those yet)
Always a few on neverfreebay, some not so cheap, but I got mine so feel free to buy the rest lol
Engines I`d go for, teedee 020 for sure, killerbee, venom, spacehopper , spacebug, the older vintage engines. I won`t run the price up on the medallion you want (by bidding on it), I only want that old throttled medallion I posted about, not the nffs you probably want lol
But I`m not a serious collector, I just buy multiples of what I fly and someday those nib condition engines will fly too if I live that long(to wear out all the rest )

This morning I received a medallion r/c. Forgot I
Bought it there've been so many in last week.
Not sure of it's provenace other than it's an
049, red throttle body and '2' stamped on port
Side bearer.
Some how I haven't bought any thing for 24 hours
now, I am starting to twitch....

Re: So...................
Withdrawal,
It is during this time period that ou are major likely to try a diesel to get that fix without needing a glowstart.

Re: So...................
If I'm uncharacteristically honest Indra a couple months ago one of my club mates had a clearout
and gave me a Tiny log fuz type Spit which is one of those funny dangle off a string types...
Reason I mention it is it has a quite (too big for plane) large diesel lurking in the nose.
Having seen your utube I think it's time I fuel proofed it, bunged some wheels and string on + gave
it a twirl.

Re: So...................
The problems is, you just don't stop with the Cox engines. You might continue with every brand of 1/2a engine out there!

Now, in my younger days (Far, far away!) the ultimate 1/2A engine that we all drooled over was the Holland Hornet, VERY expensive for it's day, but serious 1/2A contest flyers wouldn't use anything else. The few I've seen offered for sale lately still fetch absolutely silly money!

Re: So...................
No but I know that they are so well made when converts to diesel they will run completely ether less!
me either.....
But I would like to get my hands on one, maybe some day
Then again, I have a dozen(or so) 061`s that just don`t get to see runtime, along with the 049/051`s, I never even fired up my 074`s(had them for a couple years now)
I just don`t mess with anything that large these days, it`s all about the 010 &020`s these days;I probably wouldn`t even mess with the 020`s much if my 010`s would run when I want them to
