Do you remember what kind of prop and fuel you used to get that rpm?
Thanks! This was back in 2011, and not long after I started using glowplugboy fuel.

Lost the non-Cox bubble pack long ago. Ian, that's nice original packaging, but mind you, that would never make ....

Maybe Mark could start up "1/2A engine of the month" over on 049 collectors. Then we could all stretch our legs a little.GallopingGhostler wrote:Lost the non-Cox bubble pack long ago. Ian, that's nice original packaging, but mind you, that would never make ....

I would have to run - British 1/2A specifies engines up to 1.5cc!

One and only bid. Got it for $1 plus shipping (which is $15 total to Aus.) Not that I need another one, but hey! Probably flew under the radar because of the description.
Rod.
Back to my original subject, I had given up ever seeing the engine I bought. (see above). My "Testors" engine disappeared for over a month in transit after the USPS tracking stated it went from the US to Poland, Back to the US, back to Poland and then the tracking info stopped. A month and a bit later it showed up here in Aus. Good deal. Only paid $15 shipped originally, but the seller refunded me. I offered to pay when it arrived but he kindly let it go, so I got a free "Testors" Surestart. Looks and feels good too, including the starter, prop & spinner. What a deal
Rod.

Sounds like someone who sold didn't know their engines. Perhaps a friend who knew pulled the person's leg by telling them it was a Testors?Oldenginerod wrote:Just purchased this on the "bay". It was advertised as an "Old Testors 049".
My "new Testors engine'.
Seriously, congrats on your find, Rod, I imagine you'll find a nice home for it.

Hey, nothing special about a Surstart, but the price was right.
