Yeah once upon a time if someone had caught something unusual on camera there was a reasonable chance it was real but today pretty much the opposite applies.
........though if it was real it'd make a hellava add for the camera company.

Okay, I'll be the sucker. I don't think it's fake. I don't see anything that I can't come up with an explanation for to support my belief. Not to say our more intelligent members can't argue me down and win. But until then, I believe it.

The camera not exploding upon impact is a tough sell. Although it is possible, heck even people bounce every once and a while.

It's flat and draggy, and it was losing a lot of energy spinning wildly and grabbing air. It's in a shock proof case, the pig pen is soft and muddy, and I think its terminal velocity just wasn't as fast as you may imagine. GoPros, Heros, etc are made to take a lick.Cribbs74 wrote:The camera not exploding upon impact is a tough sell. Although it is possible, heck even people bounce every once and a while.

I'd like to know how they got the camera back. How'd they know where to look or if the pig farmer found it how'd he know who it belonged to.

Re: Aerial sightseeing gone awry!
I don't think the owner of the camera ever got it back. The farmer checked with the local parachute club Dropzone's airport and never could find the original owner. The farmer's wife Mia Munselle posted the video. The file's time stamp would have told her when it was dropped. This is her only upload on Youtube.

Re: Aerial sightseeing gone awry!
Well that sounds perfectly feasible and far stranger things have happened so I guess I go with you Rusty and call it true.
Did you ever see the video of the two guys who were filming as they flew up a valley, didn't keep an eye on their altitude and by the time they realised they had flown up a blind valley it was too late. They couldn't fly over it and there wasn't enough room to turn around. Once the wreckage was found the camera revealed what had happened.

Smart people take a picture of their name, phone number, and address so even if the written label comes off there is still easy identifying who owns it.
Data cards are amazingly resilient, and will tolerate submerging in salt water - which will destroy the camera!
