Thanks Lieven
I'm so happy you couldn't knock the smile off my face with an axe. I ran up the stairs (now that was pushing my luck) to tell my seventeen year old son that I had won and got a less than enthusiastic "That's great Dad" but he's not the happiest person at 6am in the morning.
Thanks everybody especially EX Model Engines, thanks Matt, for the awesome prize and Jacob for organising it all.

Well earned win Dave!
Gorgeous engine, and excellent photo composition.
The whole field of entries was top notch this month.
Hats off to you (or raised arms).

It's great to have made it through the 2nd heat but the suspense of four months to the final will be sheet torture

Thanks Crank
I make them on the lathe out of aluminium bar. Lathe handy for polishing them too.
That Medallion although nowhere near as bad as the barn find wasn't in the best of shape when I got it.
Cleaned it up and new carb body and spinner. Head was mashed up, bent fins etc so that took some effort all the time worried that I'd break one of the fins while doing it. Hadn't long finished it when I saw the contest thread. I panicked a bit and in my haste to make a stand for it I knocked it off
the bench on to the workshop floor and sure enough landed on the head and bent the fins
After I calmed down I fixed the head again, and went about photographing it all the time thinking the entries will fill up and I'll miss out.
What should have taken ten minutes had now been over three hours but luckily it all worked out in the end
