Confession.....

Confession.....
I hate planes
Seriously I do love playing with them, but hate flying in them. I suffer from moderate-severe claustrophobia issues. I have to really be on my "a" game to not suffer panic attacks.
I could give a tinkers cuss about an aircraft mishap, but jam me in somewhere like a sardine and I about come unglued.
I write this as I am sitting waiting for the plane to depart from Dallas TX to Salt Lake.
Wish me luck!
Ron

Re: Confession.....
Thanks Roddie,
I am not a drinker by nature, but I find two belts of JD really takes the edge off.
This departure is taking forever!!!!

Re: Confession.....
Sorry to hear that Ron. My wife has a
hard time flying also.
I don't know what kind of a reader you
are, but imersing myself in a book has
worked. Doesn't even have to be a good
one. I've flown to India five times, and
books made the 23+hr flights bearable.
Have a good flight Ron.

Re: Confession.....
Should of.... But didn't. Here in Utah now so all is well.
Thanks for the tip Bob, unfortunately it's more complicated than that. I feel afraid and then the fear turns to terror and progresses into full blown panic. The crappy part is you know everything is fine, there is plenty of room and plenty of air, but you are in a struggle in your mind and you dare not make a scene because you don't want to get kicked off.
Probably should see a shrink. Funny thing is I wasn't always this way. About 5 years ago I was fine. I wonder what happened?
Maybe I should change my signature to this.

Re: Confession.....
"All's well"....glad to hear it Ron.
Maybe you just need to fly more,
or start poping valium.
Try searching "flight anxiety".
Gotta be something out there,
or at least a direction.

Re: Confession.....
Regular exercise, trying not to control it, and breathing technique...I've been there and so have millions of others but they normally don't admit it. Read this http://www.anxieties.com/panic.php#.Uv28HbSa8os
But it probably has a deep root in you're crashing all those Cox airplanes, and they're taking their revenge!
