1st Quarter Control Line World Magazine
Things that Make You Go, "I GOT to clean out the car more often!" Found my latest copy of Mr. Brodak's wonderful Quarterly Magazine, "Control Line World", under the passenger seat of the HHR.
AND...figured I'd scan a few pages for the benefit of any of you guys who are on the fence about subscribing to it.
Hoping that it's OK with the authors, the pages are from Larry Borden's tribute article to Jerry Leuty, the Las Vegas Circle Burners Ring-A-Thon, and the magazine's ultra-cool back-cover photo.
And...while I had the scanner fired up...thought I'd include this Blast from The Past: June 1956 Model Airplane News:

I'd love to subscribe. Maybe I will for my BD.
I even got my picture in PAMPA's Stunt News. I don't get that either.

Ah, hell! Now the fame is going to go to Duke's head. He's gonna think he's a rock star or something.

Rusty, congratulations on a job well done. It's always nice to see your picture on the cover of the Rolling Stone. Ken

Oops! Didn't notice the picture of Rusty. The shock of seeing Duke on the page put me in a phase of denial. Good job, Rusty!

Good stuff guys! Wouldn't it have been great of they were both wearing CEF T-Shirts?

Damn right! That's my Jackson Flyers hat I'm wearing. I need to get me some MCLS(Metrolina Control Line) paraphernalia now. They have cool club decals for our planes.Cribbs74 wrote:Good stuff guys! Wouldn't it have been great of they were both wearing CEF T-Shirts?

Re: 1st Quarter Control Line World Magazine
Just get home and settled down after a day at my first ALES glider contest. That's another story.
Yes, it was a surprise to get the back cover, I knew we would make the article, I helped write it with my buddy Joe. The editor had her way with it though, still had a great time working with Joe on it. This is the second time we have made it in CLW. I think I made the back cover because of my nephew Luke, he's pretty cute getting another CL lesson. He told my wife, "the next time I go to your house, I'm going to fly Uncle Duke's airplanes"
Mark- Maybe I can write up something about you and get Daniel to take your picture. And then you can be Famous Mark.
