1967: A cold and windy day in Boaz, Illinois. At the edge of the county road in front of Uncle Wayne's house, my cousin Bobby holds tightly to the fuselage of Wayne's PT-19 as it's Babe Bee surges against it's restraint! Tensely gripping the green plastic handle, I signal Bobby that I'm ready.

Released, it surges across the it's crescent runway of asphalt and leaps into the air. For a brief moment of glory, it rides the air: up...up...then turns in an attempt to join it's young pilot in the circle!

We all know the rest!
