banners for flying
Party stores sell mylar banners with celebration messages on them. usually around 5-6" high x 8-10 ft. long. One year I celebrated someone's Birthday by making a banner/streamer towed by a plane. I taped a popsicle stick with string-holes drilled on the ends... to the edge of a mylar banner... and ran 2 strings to the tail; one taped to the tail wheel/skid and one to the top of the fin. The "Happy Birthday" banner towed vertically, very nicely from my 1/2A biplane.
You could have a lot of fun with this... at fun fly's you could have a couple of "plain-white" banners prepared... and write your own messages with "broad-tip" markers! Fuel-up a slow-fly tow-plane with a minutes worth of fuel... and make a statement.
Some ideas; "Welcome...." "Model-club name"... "ads..." "Happy B-day"... "Congrats....".... "emoticons" or 3-4 word "banter/joke" messages.
Dare I say... "flying clown"!
Talk about an eye-catcher!!!

Re: banners for flying
When my older brother turned 50, we had a get-together at the little airport where we flew our models. At the time, I was making banners from large sheets of crepe paper, using spray cans and my airbrush, and made up one to surprise him.
At the appropriate moment, I taxied Mud Dabber over to it's banner where a friend hooked it up. When the banner was boosted into the air, we all sang Happy Birthday while the plane flew back and forth above us.
Unfortunately, we didn't take any photos on the first flight, intending to do a "reenactment" following the cake and sodas. When Mud Dabber again took off with it's banner, the wind flutter and fuel had taken it's toll, and the banner's trailing edge wore away.
This blurry photo was all I got. It's supposed to say "Happy Birthday #1 Brother !", with a caricature of the Jet Ranger he flew for the Highway Patrol...but when I'd show it to friends, they'd always ask, "So, where IS this #1 Brothel?" !
