Kyosho .049 Cox VW Beetle / Mini Cooper
Hello everybody,
this thread is the same as "Cox Stocker 0.49 / Indy Car / Nissan GTP" from "coxaddicted" but here we talk and share pictures or videos from the Kyosho .049 Cox VW Beelte or Mini Cooper.
So if somebody has this car let us know. Every picture or video from your car will be welcome.
Also if somebody has some questions about that.

Here are some pictures from my Beetle:
I think in one or two weeks it will be ready to run. If everything runs perfectly i will look for a new body or new paint because the old one is a bit broken.

Bnitram, do you have got the pump-filler cap of the tank? You need this for easy priming the engine.

Re: Kyosho .049 Cox VW Beetle / Mini Cooper
Nice car too!
Yes i have pump-filler cap but my is broken. But if you take a normal medical syringe and put a little piece of hosepipe(Schlauch) over the output you can push air into the tank. That works perfectly.
I also have a question to you:
How much ° degrees does the gas and steering servo move?
45° / 60° / 90° or how much?

Hi bnitram,
the servo move is very limited at this model. Both is adjustable, my gas servo moves only 30° between full throttle and brake.
You have to check if the valve in the muffler opens complete, idle will be adjusted over the valve too.
The steerring servo also around 30°. You can pm me if you like.

Re: Kyosho .049 Cox VW Beetle / Mini Cooper
Hi all,
since my last post i had not much time for my car. But in the last two days i build a controller which allows me, to reduce the servo movement to max 30°.
Here a pic:
This controller is based on a ATtiny13, who converts the signal correctly.
I will try to make the test run today, but the weather is not very good. I hope it will change in the next hours, so i can make a test run.
Here is another picture where you can see the currently built technology:

Re: Kyosho .049 Cox VW Beetle / Mini Cooper
The weather has change for some hours and I could make my test run
After I tried lots of times to start the engine,it always run for some seconds. After half an hour it RUN!
So I make a test drive, but my brakes doesnt work and the idle speed was too high, so i cant stand still. The car was driving any time....
While I was driving I lost my battery and I had no more control of the car. At the end the car drive under another (real) car and overturned...
Nothing happend to the car, but I have to trim the settings. The next time I will run it, I will make a Video too.

Thanks for getting these two threads going. Can you provide some history on these models? What years were they manufactured? Also, I see them come up on Ebay from time to time in both used and new condition. The new ones seem very expensive. How much should they cost in a used and new condition? Thanks for any information. Re: Kyosho .049 Cox VW Beetle / Mini Cooper
Hello brianskate,
when I bought my car this gasket was also missing but its the standart 049 gasket. You can buy it here:
http://coxengines.ca/cox-.049-glow-head-gasket-3.html
The engine is a standart Cox .049 Production Engine like this one:
http://coxengines.ca/cox-.049-production-engine-pt-19.html
Nothing realy special. You can take parts from all 049 cox engines without SPI. Only the glow plug is special because of the lathed surface(without the fins), but you also can take a "normal" and turn it on a lathe to a "car glow plug".
It would be nice if you also can post some pictures
with best regards
bnitram
PS:
Do you have an english version of the manuel? I only got a japanese manual...

Re: Kyosho .049 Cox VW Beetle / Mini Cooper
Hello
Yes. A new gasket is a must. If you need a new glow plug you have to take the 325 but you also can take the adapter that you have ride above. I don't have the adapter but I will make one by my self because I have 3 broken heads... Than its cheaper to convert it than by original heads...
Oh I don't no. A safety way is to take rc fuel.
With best regards

Yes. The spring starters are only to pull the engine though 1 rotation on the airplane engines. All it takes is one good bump and it is off to the races!

Of course! The starter is very good and the engine runs directly the right direction.
Haha yes. The gasget remains mostly in the motor when the head is removed.
If your glow head is still ok you can fire it up after cleaning
@getback:
If the weather in germany would be better i will make a video. It's really a nice car.
