A Golden Bee named "Old War Horse"
This Golden Bee is named "Old War Horse", it's old, shows it's scars... but it still runs. I bought it last week, apart in a grab bag of parts. I gave it a #2 cylinder, piston, brass reed, e-clip, fuel pick-up, prop, glow plug and a lot of TLC. So far I've run 2 tanks of fuel through it and it's starting to settle down in it's groove. I will be using this engine on my Control Line trainer to not only teach myself, but my boys as well. Should be a nice little engine for the job. I also have it's brother, but I don't have another metal stunt backplate....

"Old War Horse" has some pretty good scrapes, but It's brother would give Kim's "War Dog" a run for it's money
Re: A Golden Bee named "Old War Horse"
Glad it's running good Travis! I have never been fond of the snap starters, have you ever tached an engine with one that has one and one with a no drag? I always assumed they rob power, but I have no concrete evidence.
Hope you can get started in CL and you and your boys enjoy it.

Ron, the Babe Bee that I tach'ed last week has the snap starter on it. I was getting 18.5K on it with ~30% nitro. I used to worry about the backplate rubbing the starter spring, but I don't think I'll worry about it now.

Well it had scars of having a snap starter and in the parts there was the starter plate, so I put one back on... made it look a little better Now to get it's brother running... although I think I'm going to have to put a wanted add up for the parts I don't have.
Re: A Golden Bee named "Old War Horse"
Two of my Golden Bees have spring starters but they are the older type that you must engage manually, not the newer type with the starter plate. Perhaps both type were used but I believe the newer type were used on product engines like the Sure Start.
