I found the Turnigy tach on ebay shipped from here in the states for 14.90. Ordered one yesterday. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Multi-Blade-Tachometer-/261050642120?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc7d4aec8

I have ordered from Hobby king before, but It takes so long that I forgot the stuff was coming by the time it arrived.

I have also ordered parts for a specific plane that I was flying and by the time the parts showed up I had already demolished the plane.

Bit of a shocker that Matt the only one's on Ebay seem to be over here as well....
Perhaps they're just not as popular over your side of the pond.
They've got them in the German hub for 10 bucks, probably quicker than HK too.

I have one of the lazer tachs Ron. Double checked it with my LED tach and they were reading the same. Got tired of the LED reading the shop light bulb pulses and giving a erratic reading. The only difference with the lazers is that you need to paint one blade (or both) white so it will pick up the reading. A junk yard paint pen works good for marking the blades. I paint all my blade tips white(then tape balance),,just for saftey purposes so it works out the best for me.

Ron

Hey Ron, I would try a Turnigy Micro Tach. Up to 9 blades, holds the peak RPM, and reads 5 digits.

Only problem is it ships from China, and could take up to 3 weeks to arrive. When mine comes, and if it works, I wouldn't mind lending it to you.

Matt

I just ordered me and Travis a matching set ! We shall review also ! Maybe...I didn't ask Travis if he wanted one, so if he gets all snarky, it may just be me reviewing TWO of them !

Great bits of kit Kim
The downside is that power button above the guys thumb.
It sticks out proud and turns 'itself' on very often.
I ended up (don't laugh) sticking a corn plaster over it so
you have to want to turn it on.
Very Happy

A "corn plaster"? How about a picture of the installation?

I have only one tach, a TNC that I bought from the late Tony Chriscimagna. An updated version is available from Fromeco http://www.fromeco.org/products/05frctnc/default.aspx

George

Forgot to mention, FROMECO tachs are completely made and sold in Oregon, USA if that matters.

Price has been lowered to $95.00...I think I paid $120.00 for mine.
