Anybody know how to take out thermal hopper crankshaft?
I have already ruined 2 thermal hopper by trying to take out crankshafts.
First method; hammer down the crankshaft. As the crankshift tip is longer and smaller in diameter, it will bend by hammer down.
Second method; I fixed the crankcase on wooden table with 4 screws and lifter up the driveplate hoping it will come off. But it didn't rather the crankcase crack and broken off
Now, there is no way I can think of to take out thermal hopper crankshaft from its case. Any idea from experts?

Re: Anybody know how to take out thermal hopper crankshaft?
I have done it. Usually I screw a nut on the shaft and hammer straight down. Use a smaller hammer or even better use a small rawhide mallet. The drive plate usually pops off in 1-2 taps.
The reason for the nut is so you have a larger surface area to tap against and it protects the threads.
Sorry you ruined your cranks.

I always use a vice. It is less likely to damage the crankshaft than a misguided hammer blow.
In this instance the crankshaft was already damaged and seized in the crankcase.
