Re: Control Line & Wind
It will be sort of like flying a rocket. Put a 6x3 prop on it and try it first. That should tame it pretty good. It's very light, so be extra sure to do loops downwind. Don't panic, it will go anywhere you point it. If it has a bigger tank than an 8cc Bee, don't fill it full for the first flight. You'll probably fly it fine, you're a fast learner.Godsey3.0 wrote:How difficult would a lil satan be to fly? My friend Daniel is coming over and his dad did a lot of control line in his day. His dads version of a trainer is an epoxy soaked flat wing plane. Each time Daniel flies it it goes over his head and wrecks it so I invited him over to try mine. He was thinking about bringing his lil satan over for me to try. Will this plane drill me into the ground?

Re: Control Line & Wind
I did a 350 degree loop. I had changed the lines and now have 30'. My dad was flying it and he was getting dizzy and about to fall so he took it real high and had me run in and grab the handle. Well when I grabbed it from him he sat down next to me and I noticed when I grabbed it it had fallen and I pulled up real hard to prevent a crash and it went straight up. So next turn I tried a loop and it about bit its own tail. But the wind caught it and it lost a lot of speed. Coupled with that I was in shock and I don't think I actually pulled up all the way it went straight into the ground. The plane is fine but I broke my neat little 6x3 Topflite propeller. I already got a new prop on it and am going to try it again tomorrow.

Re: Control Line & Wind
Well props are cheaper than planes
Hope you didn't bend a shaft in that engine.

Re: Control Line & Wind
Keep at it. Pretty soon you'll be scratching your head wondering what the heck was so hard about that.

A less than 360 degree loop in CL circles is known affectionately as a "figure nine".
If you have too much elevator movement, you may have stalled it with full up. BTW, is your pushrod flexing when you give it up? If so, you may need to reinforce it.
One of the mistakes many of us make when learning to loop is to give it full up and just hold on, when we should have flown through the loop...at least that's what I did.
