(Want to Buy) FOUND! Thanks! Topflite .049 "Hellcat"
I promised flying bud Patrick that I'd give this a shot. If any of you guys might have one of these, built or un-built, I may want to buy it for him.
Top Flite sold them in the 60's-70's. They're similar to Mr. Musciano's "Hollow Log" models, sheet-winged, but with a formed sheet-fuselage instead.
Patrick's been foaming about this Hellcat model for as long as I've known him, and wanted me to take a shot at finding one in about any condition.
Thanks! Kim

Thanks! I should have check Ebay first, but it can take a while to load on dial-up service here at the house.
I'm copying the listings to show him what they went for. Patrick has a bad habit of getting "Big Wheel Fever"and saying, "Just buy it if you find one." ...then choking when he sees what the price is !!!
His budget is probably gonna narrow his purchase down to a restorable carcass !
Thanks!!!

That pre-formed fuse looks pretty cool, wonder how they formed the balsa.

I've got an article somewhere showing it done with a carved wooden form with damp balsa wrapped around it and steamed, then allowed to dry.
Also have a NIB "Hurricane".35 . My Uncle Wayne built one of these in '69 or so, and apparently had a rough time getting the sides to mate-up properly, but it was one of his most beautiful models once he finished it.
I was flying it when the bellcrank pulled loose at the bottom of a loop or 8, and put it straight into the ground at full speed. Still cringe a bit over that one...

Yes Joe, Thank you! I forgot to follow up with a note here, and will now do so! Turns out that Patrick meant the flat-sheet version built by Sterling, and Tom is gonna laser-cut us a couple kits.
Thank you for setting this up!

Tom is a talented tinkerer and a good associate. His knowledge of anything in RC aircraft and engines has bailed me out on more occasions than I can remember.
I don't know if you have been following is latest project on RCG.
Here is the link.
