Re: New idea... Virtual Tach Race
You could have a "Throttled Engines" class, for the best throttle/power range.
So the winner would be voted by members, not determined by the speed recorded?

Throttled?
A class specifically created for the idiot that's been messing about with justabout every type of
throttle, engine and flown them for the last 2 years....?
You're all too kind.
Can I just have the prize now please?

There is a sticky thread posted in cox discussions written by Paul G. that explains exactly what it is and how to build one.

If they are, in fact stock they can run as stock. This is an "honor system" anyways.
In principle any performance engine can also run stock if it was produced that way, and not taken apart and polished, or otherwise altered, classed by the engine.
However once the engine is disassembled and polished internally it is no longer "stock" but instead would be mouse 1 or unlimited.
The RC bee can compete as throttled also.
Interesting thing is Mouse 2 defines the fuel (10% nitromethane), but a tanked engine is not required. Look at the AMA website, under rules, CL racing for details.
There can also be an FAI class for people who have a hard time getting nitromethane fuels.

I'd like to suggest a fun variation to this. Tach a motor before it CATOs and catch the destruction on film. Winner has highest RPM before the 'event'.

From the current AMA rulebook (found on line) :
Class I: Any reed valve engine with an integral tank.
THAT'S IT!
Note however, that for the purposes of the Tach-off events, the cylinder & piston need to be Cox products, not home made or other engine types adapted to fit. The reason being is one or two enterprising individuals have sucessfully adapted Cyclon & Norvel AAC top ends onto a Cox tank & sucessfully (& legally) raced them in AMA Class 1 Mouse Race. It is considered beyond the scope to allow this & such engines (if they were to show up) would be placed in the unlimited group...
As well, the RR-1 is not allowed in this group because it isn't a reed valve engine
And NOW you know the rest of the story...
Cheers, Paul
