Yes, very nice. For the price, I would rather put the money towards a real GTO.

You can get a 68 GTO shell in Aurora/AFX. I think that would be too small even for a .010, but if you could boy would it scoot!!!!!

Not sure what Aurora/AFX is. I'm thinking of .049 size to run at the house. I don't know anything about tether cars though. I though of trying the pusher type, I can't remember what they call it with the prop engine on the back.

Re: Cox GTO! Nice!
Aurora or AFX (Aurora Factory Experimentals) is a slot car. 60's/70's stuff. A tad larger than a hotwheels car.
I was joking as there is no way to make it happen.

Re: Cox GTO! Nice!
yep, the old HO scale Half 'O' is 1/78 or 1/82 or something close without looking it up and the later Aurora A F/X cars were a little bigger at 1/64 or something. I'm not sure what scale the above pic is
Re: Cox GTO! Nice!
I saw these on Rc groups wasn't there a yellow Ferrari as well? And he made a table top tether track i think yes that was very cool they must be between 1/64 and 1/32 my guess would be 1/43 lot of work goes into that

Duke a prop rod is an easy way to start although something attracted me to driven wheels if you can get hold of a Parma 1/24 slot car rental chassis (the belt drive one ) this should be a very easy conversion 90% of the work already done just mount the engine and a flywheel/pulley and away you go some really nice body shells too have some pictures on my or ados thread can't remember which one but either 049 or 010 tether car have a look the main problem for me would be getting it in from the states (shipping) although have recently found our main importer (very nice bloke) so will do it that way I think

Re: Cox GTO! Nice!
No doubt that these cars were just cool. This example is just one that obviously doesn't lend itself to being a runner. These cars however were plagued with problems in terms of the plastic spur gear. Seeing that these engines utilized sheet metal screws to retain it's motor mount, it failed rapidly. 3 screws held the engine backplate to the metal chassis with the 4th being totally concealed without access. Two additional screws held the stamped steel bracket to the chassis which the nose of the case passed through under the flywheel. Again, sheet metal screws. The solution is to use small machine screws. This was usually discovered after the engine came loose which once that happened, damage to the gear was inevitable. In addition, these cars have very little weight which doesn't lend themselves to a lot of traction requiring a bit of lead to be placed in the chassis. After a full blown restoration on my GT-40, it might as well of been left in the condition I received it after running it due to the damage the body sustained after a few runs. The plastic is quite brittle and the clips retaining the body mounts break and the clips that hold the body down to the body also quickly fail.
Finding the spur gears is like finding a needle in a haystack. There out there, but running these certainly with the lack of of this main component makes them shelf queens. Ken
