Balsa source
Many, many years ago, a guy could go to the local hobby shop and buy pre-shaped formed balsa sheets in 3 inch and I think 4 inch wide sheets. The balsa was sanded to a leading and trailing edge shape and used mainly for hand tossed gliders like what's in the kits that Jetco used to make. Does anyone know of a source for this kind of balsa sheet?

Re: Balsa source
I seen a couple pieces of that many years ago,, and that was pretty dried out at the time. Gone now.
Maybe shoot Midwest a email, they might have a source for the work.

Re: Balsa source
Just a thought,.....sandwich 2 together for a cheap and easy symetrical wing?Speed plane maybe?

Re: Balsa source
I wish they had 3/8". I may have bookmarked a source that had a larger selection. I'll try to find it.

Since it's a flat bottomed airfoil, all you need to do is laminate an 1/8" sheet(s) to the bottom, reshape the leading edge and razor plane the TE, finishing off with a sanding bar and you have 3/8" thick foil. You may have to edge glue a couple of 1/8" sheets together since they need to extend far enough beyond the original airfoil to allow shaping.

Re: Balsa source
As usual, good idea, Andrew, I could do that. Thanks for the tip. I want a 3/8" on my Little Devil when ever I get around to that project.

Re: Balsa source
To save a little weight, you could add a strip under the LE and one under the TE, just enough to allow shaping, then when you cover the wing, the gap between the two will appear solid.
