5 Congnitive Sentences Empty 5 Congnitive Sentences

This was sent to me by a friend -- I thought I would share it here. As an old conservative, it speaks volumes for me.

Here are five truisms, if I ever saw any.

5 Cognitive Sentences

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

I'd say, "get a chisel and carve that on a rock", but the ones who truly need it, would not be able to read it.

Andrew:

HARK! Although I agree with the cognitives, political discoure has no place on an engine forum. It would seem to promote forum fragmentation into competing groups.

Does the forum need that?

I remember a civics teacher saying nearly 50 years ago that no Democracy had lasted more then 200 years. We're on borrowed time...

Think about it Cz, the Unied States is not a domocracy but a republic. Recite the Pledge of Alligence and see.

The US seems to have overlooked the nature of our union. Didn't we fight a horrendous civil war over this very issue?

On borrowed time or looking at a world record.

I'd go for the world record providing we can survive the "Occupy" movement. Huh...

They have yet to explain what they are all about but they are certainly PO'd even if they don't know why.

Since we are a democratic republic rather than a democracy does that mean we get more time?

Bob

"A democracy will exist until such time the public finds it can vote itself generous gifts from the public treasury" - Fredric Bastiat". - 17th century French economist

I believe that we are at that time now but just don't realize it.

Superdave,

Sadly, I fully agree with you. Approximately half of the eligible tax payers in our country do not pay any net federal income-or any other federal kind- tax. These people are still afforded the same rights as tax payers. From IRS rexcords- the top one percent of income earners pay approximately 38% of the federal income tax while earning approximately 19% of the income. I am self-employed and own a sub chapter S corporation. I get to pay both income and payroll taxes (federally speaking). Aas a business owner I personally feel that I get hosed all the way around. I pay additional fees and taxes on the federal, state and local levels. As a property owner as I afforded the same rude treatment. As much as this upsets me the thing that disturbs me the most is that my now eleven year old daughter will be inheriting less of an America than my parents left me.

Benjamin Franklin said something along the lines of-The man who gives up his freedom in favor of security will surely lose both.
