Please help me to identify this glow head
Hi,
My new in box Cox dragonfly arrived. ( bought it from a nice guy at USD25 ) carefully checked and found that the glow plug that come with it looks weird, I never seen this before, and cox engines wiki didn't mentioned it too.
I attached picture here.
Compare to my old 325 type glow head at the right side, the one came with dragonfly looks slightly different.its wider at the red arrow pointed. I can't insert my glow starter clip in it.
Could it be special head that make the dragonfly throttle smoothly? anyone can explain more about it please?

Re: Please help me to identify this glow head
It could be a MECOA K&B "Standard" Cox head http://www.mecoa.com/cox/index.htm
or it could be an Estes era 325. Little design changes here and there. Never know, could have been swapped out by someone in the past. Does it have any marks in the notches as if someone used a wrench on it?

Good eye Admin! I think you're right....Wow, a product Mecoa actually MADE, I'm still waiting for the soon to be released Atwood Wasp heads.

No, they did not really make them.
We supplied them with the unfinished heads 3 years ago (they did not have the filaments staked into them yet). They bought the filament wire and completed the product. We had the heads drop-shipped to Mecoa from Estes, so did not see them, but it is our understanding that Estes had begun sourcing the head bodies in China in their last couple of years of operation. If those are the ones then they may have made a minor design change before having them manufactured.
The bottom glow clip fork does not get jammed under the fin. It is laid on top of the fin; whereas the clip slides forward until the top for engages the core (pin) at the top.
Re: Please help me to identify this glow head
Hi ,
Thanks for info.
The glow head seems original, without any wrench mark on both notches, The card board box printed with date 1990. The address on instruction sheet rubber stamped with " NEW ADDRESS: COX HOBBIES INC. 350W. RINCON ST. CORONA CA. 91720"
Thanks Bernie for your tips, the glow clip can be laid on the top of the fin.
I think it should be the same performance as 325 glow head .
Thanks for info.

I know the company's moves have been well documented, but
I like seeing and hearing about sightings like this. A little chip
from the Cox Rosetta stone.
Thanks

If it looks untouched and original then it very likely is. I have a bunch of heads, they all seem to have their own characteristics when you inspect them. There are ways to get them on there without using a wrench but if it seems to be on there tight, it probably is original.

Hi,
I think factory will not use the same wrench that we used, it must be a rig to tighten it without any mark on it.
Good to know a little history from this engines box and documents.
