Got this head on an .051, looks like a regular tee dee head except it has a brass/copper insert inside. I was wondering if anyone knows what it is.

looks like burnt castor oil. I have seen heads like that. A soak in denatured alcohol will dissolve that.

Maybe someone wanted to change the combustion chamber to make a high comp head.

Maybe, so not stock or galbreth etc?

It had 4 head shims under it and still has loads of compression.

You know what? Your right...........I could have sworn it was some sort of insert. As I could not scrub it away. Well, long story short. It came off. Rookie mistake Embarassed
