Custom Pee Wee .020

Custom Pee Wee .020
Here are pics of my custom Pee Wee .020 I am currently working on. Custom rear mount and reed holder made from an old Pee Wee tank. KK needle valve and TD .020 venturi. I need a 11/64-40 tap to replace the silicone tube with an aluminum one I would JB weld to the back of the reed holder for a better seal.
I might run it tomorrow depending on weather.

Good job Jason, very well thought out.
Is this a future entry for the upcoming reedie tach race? I think there is a pee wee class this time. I could be wrong.

Re: Custom Pee Wee .020
It runs! I didn't get a video as it is raining and cold but I have a crappy pic to prove it. The concept works. Every time I would touch the needle valve the RPM would vary so I know I am getting air leaks. I definately need to make the aluminum venturi tube to correct that. The RPM at one point was 17.8k but I touched the needle and it dropped. I may have a source for the 11/64-40 tap from a sewing machine repair shop out east. He is to get back to me on Monday with a price.

Re: Custom Pee Wee .020
I always like Cox conversions and this one is no exception.
I have today been examining the TD venturi and the carb body. I have no doubt that the carb body is to all intents and purposes an 8 40 equivalent.
The venturi, however, is not just a tight fit - it gets progressively tighter. I tapped an 8 40 thread in a piece of brass and the venturi was a no go. I then re-examined the venturi thread and measured it.
The one I have was new and unused from the original Cox packet. My measurements would indicate that the thread - although 40 tpi - is tapered. Not much but tapered.
At the bottom of the thread I started out with a reading of .16625 and on working up - .16645, .16685, .16710, .16715, .16735. I have only the one new venturi but repeated the measurements several times with very similar results.
I would think that an 11/64 (.171875) tap will result in a loose fit.
I would be tempted (if intending to keep the venturi for your new creation) to run the venturi through a die and bring the thread down to 8 40. Most dies can be adjusted to cut a slightly larger or smaller thread for testing before commitment.

The 11/64 x 40 tap worked perfect. I was able to turn the venturi adapter and thread it today. I JB welded the adapter onto the reed holder. I will let the JB weld cure before I run it. Besides its 7F outside today.

Re: Custom Pee Wee .020
With that big venturi I bet it will out perform a standard Pee Wee. And you can pressurize the fuel if you so desire with the KK NVA.

Re: Custom Pee Wee .020
Ran this engine today. I have a band aid on my finger from this little !&@$. Seems to peak at 17.4k. Fuel tank height is critical with this engine and would benefit from crankcase pressure. A throttle ring would be nice or a carb on the rear.
