Forum "points" what do they mean?
Just a curiosity... I responded to ekitten2 in a for sale thread and while trying to find out where he (or she) is from, I noticed that we are about the same time joining the site, same post count, but he or she has twice the number of "points"....what gives? How are points assessed?... What do they mean?....When can I redeem my points with Matt or Bernie for a cool new engine?

Re: Forum "points" what do they mean?
Fred:
That question and several others were formorly answered in the FAQ's but no longer.
The forum has grown in numbers and participation possibly beyond Jacob Hammond's (the founder) expectations. Once simply managed the forum is not any longer.
Point accumulations originally entitled a member to take advantage of certain benfits which are now uncertain.
Perhaps Jacob or one of the moderator's will "jump in" and explain

Hmm, they (forumotion) must have removed the "what are points" thing from the FAQ. I actually have no control over the FAQ items below "Login and Registration Issues". I'm think going to completely rewrite it (and scrap the FAQ page that came with the forum) when I get some time off at the end of Dec and beginning of Jan. It may have seemed that I have not been watching over things lately because I have been taking full time classes at a local collage and I have been taking care of my grandma who has been hospitalized for a few months and is now recovering at the nursing home down the street. Everything had to happen at once so this has been somewhat pushed off to the side. This is the last week of the semester and my grandma should be coming home within the next two weeks. I will have time to make some changes around here. (Yes Dave, I'll add your product review section and possibly a few others).
Points are earned when you make posts. I have originally had plans for people to be able to buy crap with the points whether that be things for your profile or actual Cox items but that hasn't been fully developed yet. The only thing you can buy with the points right now is the member advertisement on the sidebar. Here is a chart.

Not interested in "crap" thank you.
Waiting for rewards with baited breath if you don't mind fishy breath.

Thanks for the reply
The points redemption was tongue in cheek
No need to worry about minor things on the site. IMO it is run well and moderated well. Keep your head in the classes and your family
I was just curious and now I know that ekitten2 has probably started a lot more topics than I have even with very similar post counts. Makes perfect sense to me
