.020 metal red tank Pee wee Wanted
Hello!
I owned two Cox .020 Pee Wee red tank engines. Yesterday I was cleaning them up and my girlfriend decided she wanted to help me out really badly. So I asked her to boil them for me. Everything was going smooth until she forgot to check the water for a few minutes. The water boiled out, the engines melted beyond recognition. Needless to say, she feels absolutely terrible for destroying my engines (And her moms wedding present). I keep telling her that it's ok, and that we can get another one. Does anyone out there have one of these engines that they would be willing to sale? I would like to show her that its ok!
I am a college student so I can't offer much. But, ill do what i can!
Thanks.

What parts melted? If its the backplate the you are out of luck. I have a crankcase if needed but no tanks or backplates.
Need a better picture to see what is damaged.

Pee Wee Replacement Parts Source
Cox International lists various replacement parts for the Pee Wee. The plastic reed is the most likely component to melt in a "dry boil." Almost everything else is metal. My two old Pee Wees have brass backplates, so I'm not sure what other problems you might have beyond the reed. BTW, don't boil engines in water. Alot of old gunk can be removed with a soak in glow fuel or mineral spirits. Much less likely to destroy plastic or rust ferrous metal parts. Engine guru Dave Gierke used to sell, and may still, a proprietary engine degunker which has an excellent rep.
